RTV sealant you have to apply and for correct performance you have to live 24h to dry before you put engine oil and coolant.

good evening my friend.If you ask about the engine oil i used to use on these engines the 5w30 of castrol and especially the magnatech have high temp resistant is for a lot of km full synthetic reducing the consumption of fuel the engine burn less oil per 5000 km and toyota lexus approving and give as specification this oil, also the weather have to do with it.But generally i am a fun of castrol and also group BMW specified castrol to.

hello Loks Stahh now i understand.I use a high temperature RTV silicon,it has usually grey color.it is and for high temperature and high pressure. for better resold live it to dry 24 hours before you start the engine. after market sealant will bring leakage especially the one these one for coolant system like water pump...... clean and dry the surfaces very well. good luck

Loks Stahh you need to remove the first pan and after the secondary. Also to do that it will be difficult because inside it doesn't give you space plus maybe you need to change the oring or the seal

No is not necessary just make sure that you tied the engine or better use floor Jack plus Jack stands to allow you to enter to location that are difficult and as I said make sure that you tied the engine from the top for safety plus disconnected done wires and hoses to don't damages something

Hi i just replaced a timing chains, guides and tensional for this kind of engine, but i couldn't get the first cam spocket timing mark line up, it just half tooth off as you mentioned before, but the rest of the spockets marks are good, is there a problem or normal?

Maybe is from expansion of chain or the tensioner need replacement. You have to turn the engine clockwise and come on marks again and check back. NOTE: the main marks colours and components to align, this means that you will have to turn the crankshaft several turns to come on timing marks. The difference have to be small if pass half teeth maybe on starting of engine you will have knocking sound for seconds till the chain will tension.

Engine repair and cost is calculated depending on the spare parts and the agreement you make with the mechanic. It does not have a standard price.

How much torque do you put on oil pan bolts?

The (12mm head) bolts are 22-24nm torque (10mm head) 6-10nm. For first aluminium oil pan. For second steel oil pan (10mm head)bolts I used to tied with 6nm because of 10mm nuts.

GR family engines have same block and head cylinder. Now definitely they have extra systems and different components. The vvti is operating with the same way. I had a check engine light on in my Lexus RX450h (2010 model with 210k km on board), three weeks ago, went to a Toyota car service, they put the testers on and they told me that I have to change the distribution system (timing Chain, tensioners, everything), which is very costly and very uncommon for this kind of vehicles that have been properly maintained (never missed an oil-filter change). Check engine light switched on after I had to accelerate a bit harder in order to overpass someone. In the car service they reset it and hasn't reappeared yet since 10 days. What I have noticed is that the car had made occasionally (very few times though) a ticking noice when cold started and the whole car vibrated few seconds. Out of your experience shall I check it somewhere else for a second opinion? I have seen in other KZbin videos that most probably the problem in this kind of situations is the VVTi gear, which is of course a distribution element, but shall I have to change the whole distribution system for this?

Hi. Check with other professional on toyota lexus. Yes is true that the vvti gears or phasers are giving headache on these engines and because the job is not easy they use to change all the components of the system. Bur cross check the vehicle maybe you have harness wiring problem or the vvti solenoid or oil control valves (O.C.V valves). Good luck...

They are different problems that can give hard starting when the vehicle is cold. Fuel pump, pressure regulator valve on Fuel rail IAT sensor MAF sensor temperature sensor etc...

Yes but better is to remove the front cover and follow the marks. On 1GR-FE is easier because of visibility. And again limited things that you can do.

@@Apokatan.autotech It is a 2006 IS350 with 2GR-FSE engine I am working on. The 2nd chain on bank 2 broke. I watched so many videos, all but one (yS5KInuI6mw) show setting timing with front cover removed and engine out. Most of us DIYers do not want to remove front cover, let alone engine out (crank bolt, water pump, oil pan, etc...) Your video shows settings the timing marks and then putting the pulley on to show it is at DTC 0 WHICH IS VERY HELPFUL. Another video is how to look at the alignment marks on the cams. Together I have all the info I need to attempt to set timing without removing front cover. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO. BTW, no bent valves even with 2nd chain broke off. It is safe to say 2GR-FSE is not a interference engine. Thanks to Toyota.
