The often overlooked Ruger P95 is one of the hidden gems in the world of handguns. Easy to shoot, accurate, and sassy looking, the P95 chambered in 9mm only needs to be shot in order to be understood. Once understood, it becomes part of your collection.

FOLKS- >>*Finger on the trigger*: demonstration< and display. It is sometimes necessary. Your safety is guaranteed. No one in human history has ever been accidentally shot through video. Also, while during these videos we’d like to serve as good examples of safety, we’d also like to think that the viewers would be good examples of intelligence and realize the difference between real world safety violations and watching demonstration videos. For function purposes...the gun is obviously unloaded during this demonstration video. The trigger was pulled quite a few times and I emerged alive, able to complete the production. I appreciate safety, truly, but during demonstration videos a little sense of the obvious for these occasions can be observed. If you’re about to tell me how unsafe I am while doing a demonstration video, you may want to save your breath. Thanks for watching!

This was my service pistol for many years. I still keep it by my nightstand. I love that unlike most safeties, the P95 completely disengages the trigger from the fire control group instead of locking it, so there is no chance for a failure to discharge the gun. The torture testing on this weapon has also been insane. The P series is AT LEAST as tough as the Glocks

This was my first hand gun that I bought back in 2012 when I knew nothing about guns. I went to the gun store wanting to get the SR9 but at the time it was very difficult to find. The gun shop guy told me they have the Ruger P95 I held it for 10 seconds and I said Ill buy it lol. I do not regret it at all it shoots great. The trigger pull is actually very soft and I really enjoy shooting it.

I love these things so much. The P-Series (particularly the 95) was the perfect all-purpose budget handgun and I hate that time has passed it by. I kinda wish Ruger had kept the P95 as a low-low-end product for people who just wanted a reliable no-frills pistol around the slightly-under-$300 mark. Thankfully these show up on the used market often for very cheap.
@CitizenCarry

Yeah- and I'm pretty surprised they're still cheap. I predicted wrong, thinking they'd start going up in value after they were discontinued.

The frame is made of a proprietary polymer developed for Ruger by Dow Chemical. Long strand fiber glass is used in the frame giving it exceptional strength and also gives the slide rails a very hard and durable surface for the to slide run on. I bought my P95 in 96 and has been an exceptional pistol. Fobus and Blackhawk make great holsters for it.

I have a P95 and P89, both blued. These beasts are TANKS! Even though I have several Glock and Smith polymer wonder-nines, I love these Rugers. I call them the Zombie guns, because no matter what you do to them, just put the ol' booger-hook on the bang switch, and they go BOOM....accurately! Now, despite their toughness, I don't neglect them. I keep em' clean and oiled...like all my other beasts.

Better "internals" than "entrails," just say'in... lol --- FWIW, I've owned my (gen 1) P95DC since I bought it new in 1996. I'm not a huge guy, and I have carried (and still do) this gun comfortably, IWB, using a leather Don Hume H715M, for all that time... When you utilize a quality holster, carrying concealed ain't all that hard... ☺ *Btw, that is an EXCELLENT tip about the XD holsters-- thanks!* I was just recently considering buying another 95 from a local pawn shop, but was wondering about that...

One of the most underrated pistols ever. Had one, sold it, regretted it, found another, keeping it. P95DC, no safety, love it. Was hitting a spent propane tank at 100 yards, couldn't believe it. First grouping at 25 feet was a more or less vertical line with the holes almost and some were touching. Pleasant surprise as I don't consider myself that good. Ruger isn't making these anymore, so if you see one, better get it.

hilarious how people want to rate every hand gun on how good it would be for a CCW...yet 99% of these people likely don't even plan to actually use it as a CCW. when Ruger came out with this gun, they didn't intend for it to be a CCW. get over that fact and once you do, you will realize how awesome this handgun is for the money spent (i got mine for $225 new). if you want a CCW, go for the LCR's, LCP's LC9"s etc. Ruger came out with these guns for a reason. they came out with the P95 for another reason. the P95 is a chunky, reliably, workhorse 9mm semi-auto. you could buy 2 of these and half a dozen mags for the price of 1 Sig.

+2improper With the exception of a couple of sharp edges and a couple of mold lines that needed tending to with a little 220 grit, and the magazine disconnect that had to go, I love it. Grip angle of the 1911, capacity of the Glock 17, with typical Ruger quality and reliability. Also, unlike the P series, the slide and frame is nice and thin. It doesn't bulge around the slide stop like the P95 and other P series pistols do. I was actually looking to buy another P95 when I bought the SR9. They didn't have any in stock and once I handled the SR9, had to have it.

Little work horse that will eat anything you feed it, and always function without fail. I got the blued one, but I'm considering getting another and going with the stainless. LOVE this pistol! It's a little bulky for some people, but I CC outside the waistband in a slide holster and wear a button up over shirt with no issues. The frame polymer is INCREDIBLY durable, and from what I understand is proprietary to Ruger. made for this series of pistols. It breaks down into like 4 parts. Simple wins every time.

Absolutely! I'd put my P95 up against any Glock, any day. And because it's a hammer fired design, which I prefer, it shoots straighter and faster because you dan't have to squeeze as hard, and the recoil doesn't feel as "snappy" as a Glock. I love the De-cocker too. It allows me to carry with a round chambered and the safety off.

I bought my P95 about 2 yrs ago, date of manufacture is 2010. Don't make them new any longer but if you find one for about $300-$350 (paid $310 for mine) grab it!. It is a bit "clunky" as stated but it fits the hands well. I bought an IWB holster and it's comfortable enough for CC. I have an S&W SD40VE and both loaded are about the same weight, not much of a noticeable difference, maybe a few ounces heavier for the P95. The P95 is much more accurate IMHO due to the 40's "trigger safety". But I have had multiple stove pipes and hang ups with Remington UMC 115 gr 9mm Luger rounds. UMC 147 gr rounds shoot perfect with 0 hang ups with over 500 rounds to date fired. I assume the 115 gr rounds are jamming because of the heavy slide. Has anyone else with the P95 (or any other 9mm) experienced this with 115 gr round? My bro-in-laws S&W M&P 9mm has the same problems with the 115 gr rounds. With that said I have a Mega Box of 250 9mm UMC 115 gr rounds that I will never put in this magazine again. The stove pipes at the range are one thing but in a critical situation (heaven forbid) I don't want to be racking the slide every other round. For CC I use Personal Defense Hollow Point rounds, nothing under 135 gr. I feel confident with the weight of the gun and 147 gr rounds and hey, if I miss after 16 shots I'll throw the dam thing at them and knock em out!! Any feedback on the 115 gr rounds of any manufacturer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and happy shooting.

For sure! You need it to be ready! As for me whenever that has happened, I would mark my magazines and see if it consistently was happening with the same magazine. That’s what that sounds like. So if you have the 20th round you are shooting go wrong and it was the same number on the magazine each time, it could have been a mag problem.

The ONLY and perhaps MAIN issue with the Ruger P95 is the double spring'd recoil spring. It is HEAVY as hell and yes long to slide lock too. Also, the take down on the P95 is very antiquated as it were. The magazines are still difficult to track down since the P95 calls back to the AWB of the 90's. There are probably 100,000 10-round magazines out there for it but I don't know what their production has been since the ban was lifted. That all being said, for any future buyers, trust me, get the 2nd generation of the p95 (shown in the video.) The original P95 used a very VERY slick plastic which was about a 0 on the grip scale. Also, the De-cocker on the first model was completely riding the slide serrations which made for a very uncomfortable racking action. If anything, this is a PERFECT low cost "back up" or "truck" gun. Throw it in an emergency bag or location and it will ALWAYS be ready and waiting for you. Damn DAMN reliable.

2improper Sad sad man you. You should have just gotten an SP two years ago when they were in the $400 range. The mags are still $50 and they still ONLY ship with 1. However, now they are going for well into the $500 range which makes me just lean over to the Glocks or M&Ps. I say... as the Sp2022 was my first firearm.

2improper Ruger 85 MKII,89,90,91,94,95,97 series are great pistols of the time, they could of kept making atleast 1 "P" series pistol for old times sake. my favorite was the MKII, it was big and heavy but cool as hell to shoot and amazing to look at as well. if you search some of the auction gun sites sometimes a mint Ruger P series pops up for a good price.

The model you have there is actually a ruger p95pr. The pr stands for picatinny rail and this model was introduced in 2005 and the updates added was the picatinny rail an the stippling around the grip. . And was the last up dated model of the 95 series. The p95 was introduced in 1996 and has had several updated models since its 96 original. And was discontinued from the ruger lineup in October of 2013.

2improper Did you trade your Ruger for the Sig 2022 yet? if so what do you think of the trigger of the Sig? I just got a KP95 with a rail and its a pretty cool pistol, I actually like the non railed P95 AC shinny smooth black frame better then the KP95 textured frame, to me the smooth black frame is like a Ruger trade mark that they been making for ever on the P series, almost like the Bakolite on the p38 German war pistols of ww2.
@CitizenCarry
@CitizenCarry 9 жыл бұрын
sand man I did. Truthfully: I'd say the trigger on the P95 is slightly better than the trigger on the sig. The build on the Sig is better, but the P95 trigger is awesome.

Not a bad gun. Not great but not bad. I got this for my glove box and it lives in there nicely. Is also a great hunting side arm when trampling through the woods. Picked it up for a little over $250. Can tell he's only had 200 rounds through it. Got about 1k through mine and the slide has a good bit of slop in it. It's right at 27oz unloaded on my scale. My complains are that the mag release digs into my finger on the right hand, trigger return is too weak/slow, and just prefer internal hammer/striker fire overall. Other than that and being a little chunky for IWB it's pretty good. Also even though the overall length is about the same as a glock 17, the barrel is about an inch shorter. Also, you can get good mec-gar mags that hold 17 rounds and actually fit more flush than the factory mags.
