Like the concepts presented. I'm a bit absent minded at times and worry about hiding things so well that I'll not only forget where I hid things, but what I hid in the first place. I once helped an elderly lady move out of her house and relocate out of state. As we were finishing our load-up for a lengthy road trip, she mentioned she'd hidden a revolver in the house and couldn't remember where. I had to tear the place apart and eventually found it behind an AC vent in the hallway. I don't wanna do that again, esp. if I made it happen to myself. Ha!

The number one way to minimize the risk of civil forfeiture is to not give the police any reason to pull you over. Obey the speed limit. Use your blinkers. Make sure all your lights work. Leave room to stop if the car in front of you slams on its breaks. Do not have any alcohol before driving. If you are not breaking any laws you are unlikely to get pulled over.

My great grandfather was a very successful farmer and land speculator. He didn't trust banks... WHO would?! So, he kept his money in a small chest that was filled with US gold coins, probably eagles and double eagles. Anyway, he buried that gold somewhere, and when he died no one knew where. The family did an extensive search but never found it. That land, if he even buried it there, was sold and resold a number of times. His gold is probably under a highway now, lost forever... or, until they really do invent the tricorder. My great grandmother still had the farm to sell, so lived well on the money from that but a much larger part of gramps fortune was lost because he left no record of where it was. 😞

@@edb3877 was this your grand fathers coins? In February 2013, a California couple found 1,411 gold coins in cans while walking their dog on their property in Northern California's Shasta Cascade region: The coins, known as the Saddle Ridge Hoard, were minted between 1847 and 1894 and are estimated to be worth over $10 million. The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, first noticed a rusted can partially emerging from a hillside on a path they had used for years. They carefully dug it out with a stick and brought it home, where they initially reburied the coins in a cooler under their woodpile. The find is thought to be the largest of its kind in U.S. history.

First of all, you take a 5 gallon bucket, then you put a gamma seal lid on said bucket. Stick that bucket into 3 mil contractor bags(x2). Then a 50 caliber ammo can with a good seal into the bucket. Inside that ammo can you’ll put your tubed metals or bars into Mylar bags with silica packs. Then bury it on your property or property you can trust. In this method it will be safe from home invasion, fire, tornado, even floods in most cases and of course confiscation and or seizures. I may or may not have had things buried for decades and all is well. Carry on.

They didn’t bother to dig thru to the bottom layer of the large ammo can:) apparently the x-ray mach can see if there’s water in your steel water bottle but cannot see in the ammo can. Theres a fine line between incoouous and obvious. Like those insane wall mounted gun cabinets that are supposed to look like ordinary decorations but stick out from the wall 8". Keep it somewhere illogical or time cosuming for someone to look. If you have a stack of boxes in a room, store your ammo in green cans or you have a pantry full of canned goods. Keep a similar empty container, fill with your metal of choice and put it in the back of the shelf off to one side. There are conpanies that specialize in furiniture with hidden compartments. You could even have some wrapped up in an old t shirt and left at the bottom of a dirty laundry basket.

More people have lost valuables at home than at a safe deposit box.
I travel too, and have thought about the same things. By the way, that’s not me in my picture…

Protect your serious investment right at home...fire (and burgler) rated safe, bolted into the concrete, monitored security system with video.

Before we moved out to the country, we had the safe bolted to the concrete floor and to a concrete wall in our basement. I used eight 4" long 1/2" diameter grade 8 bolts for this and steel concrete anchors. That safe was not going anywhere. Always liked the idea of layered home security, preferably with a remotely monitored 24/7 security system.
