@@ACommenterOnKZbin it still is a 2jz. The billet block holds the same accessories and rotating assembly as the stock cast block 2jz. Of course it’s not a ‘true’ 2jz. However sticking to what makes it a 2jz (the rotating assembly). It’s as 2jz as you can get

At how much lift will the camshaft hit the corner of the shim spitting it out? The tomei pic says 9.1mm is that max valve lift? or max valve lift (ex 9.3mm) minus valve clearance (ex 0.2mm) = net valve lift (9.1mm)?

How I know the golden shims of the 2JZ, mainly JDM VVTi, are not tin coated. This is a titanium nitrade coating. Side fact: they are smaller resolved in thickness as the steel ones.

Hi Jay, thanks for the info on the DLC coated buckets! One question I have is how come a lot of engines don’t need cam bearings, but the cams just ride in the journals? Unlike the mains and crank which always have bearings. Is it just the amount of weight and load applied which is less in a cam than a crank?

I built my supra 2j about a year ago. All going well. However this has now made me nervous about the oem shimmed buckets, with the 269 9.9mm lift cams I have in there. Is this very drastic and I should change them out right now, or ok?

Youll be fine. Ppl run 272 all the time on stock buckets. I did. And was revving to 7500. And heard others revving higher than that but not recommended either

You can't be running 269.9mm cams bro! 😂 11.0mm cams are pretty huge cams bro- that's 258.9mm less lift than yours bro!!! 😜

Maybe your thinking of "advertised duration"... The duration that counts is the @0.050 duration, different manufacturers ramp up the lash differently, so the industry standard everyone is interested in is the @0.050 duration

Weight and an oil channel. The oil doesn't flow forward in the head, it just flows into the head and down the camshafts. Thanks

Because supertech buckets are crap without DLC. this is just nit-on in todays metal technology!
