@@eriklarson9137 no they def don’t, they all love the LS or coyote or whatever else nobody builds northstars for 1000hp like nivlac tryin to do or we’d have seen it on 1320 video or whatever else all us gearheads watch. I’ve never heard anything but bad things about the north star getting hot and coolant issues I’ve never heard or seen someone work past that and actually build one; even then I don’t think it’s the “best platform” or whatever. Show me a 6 second stock block North Star.. I’d seriously love to see it no joke at all… but I’ve see several 6 sec “stock block” coyote setups like in the snot rocket mustang…

Headgaskets may be an issue on the Northstar, I have done them on stock engines. Only 4 bolts per cylinder, it's going to need studs if it's getting boost

My wife has driven one of these for over 14 years and 100k miles. In that time we replaced one belt, a coolant reservoir, brakes once, two sets of tires and a bunch of oil changes and two batteries. She isn't the best thing to drive but she never lets us down and has no rust despite living its entire life in Minnesota winters. Edit: she bought it at 50k miles for 10k. That works out to less than 750$ a year for over 14 years and still going strong.

If it gives you anymore problems with that mid-pull fuel cut, look into installing a MAF. I've seen some Trailblazer OS that do that weird fuel cut when in SD mode. If you add a MAF, that problem goes away. Hopefully that helps you or someone else.

Corvette servo and a shift kit to raise the line pressure and speed up the shift's will really go a long way with heat control and clutch clamping power.

Needs to have the ground effects and then lowered to be more like the typhoon. Also needs to be painted either black or red. From what I’ve seen these engines can make some serious power with fully built engines.

They make 290 out of the box . Picked one up for my parents. A cherry 06 . Roasts the tires and is a rocket for what it is in stock form. Tons of potential. No one seems to look at them though . They all want the SS instead .

There are more and more parts becoming available. Emtech makes parts, snake eater has injectors, artec offers the turbo manifold, then everything else is up to the builder. They can be ran on megasquirt or maxxecu as well as other stand alones.

Nivlac and his dad are awesome dude.. if you end up seeing a 2016 silverado with a vortec 4200 you'd know where i pick idea from. Really looking at the l8t motor or vortec 4200. Totally different rout.. one much cheaper.

Oh heck yes they are fast! 200 hp at 4500 lbs. That's a combo dude! I imagine yours had a CAI that added 250hp though.

He better put the SS rear ends in or they'll break. At minimum get the extended body rear it's an 8.6 it's a direct drop in. The 8"and the 7.25 front won't take it, same with the grenade 80 differential. My brothers spit out the spider gears after the carrier broke.

honestly I think these things are goofy but in a kinda wow it fast and sound cool but looks like just a blob on 4 wheels. He could put c4 auto shift servos in that like my buddy has in his 06 trailblazer. it makes the shifts more aggressive but my buddy is a transmission tech and built his transmission "built" meaning upgraded linkage,servos, and has sum aftermarket ring gears. He didn't touch a single other part besides brakes and tires tho lmaoo

The car we are swapping an atlas into will have a standalone. The goal of this was to show it could be done. People have tuned the stock p12 with boosted applications. No one had really done the e67 despite it being the same ecu has corvettes, ctsv, etc. Now the bugs are sorted it runs great.

I really wished these Atlas motors came in the 6-cyl, 4th gen camaro. Maybe then they'd have developed an aftermarket. I think the only reason they never got any support, is coz every car they powered took kids to soccer practice. I don't think they're as stout as the Barras, but even still, could be a low-budget, American junkyard motor if they'd have ever been hot-rodded. SOOOOO many of them in junkyards 😁

It’s a shame they gave up on them. While they’re not as stout at some other straight 6’s they’re still pretty good and have potential. Stuff like the Barra doesn’t make a ton of power stock either and needs the aftermarket support for the big numbers. A straight 6 ends up so tall it’s hard to fit them in much besides trucks and SUVs. To stick one in a sports car you end up needing to lay it over at an angle so the hood isn’t tall. I think a big part of why people haven’t taken to them is because the LS exists. With that you have greater power potential for similar money and effort.

I bought a 72 Opel wagon that because of following Calvin’s Atlas success im going to do a turbo 2.9 4cyl Atlas/4L60 swap on it for a fun 3-400hp cruiser, should be in the 21-2200lb range so it will be fun
