My wife's cousin lived a couple of miles west of the Bozeman Pass just north of the freeway. I used to sit on the porch and watch all the traffic on the interstate and the train traffic on the tracks just south of the freeway. Loved taking it all in and the vistas are amazing. Great Video!! Thanks for sharing.

In the late 70’s I blew the engine in my VW Scirocco just past Exit 319, Jackson Creek Rd. Good times.

Nice drive. Love the photos & footage at Missouri Headwaters State Park. Just remember, that's just where name "Missouri River" officially appears on the map. The farthest headwaters for the river is Hell Roaring Creek & Brower's Spring- which one can't just drive too! BTW, I noticed you already did a video on I-90 at Homestake Pass. It's a very old video from 9 years ago. Can't wait to see your updated drive on it.

From November 1995 to May of 1999 Montana didn't even have a numerical speed limit on I-90. The speed limit was reasonable and prudent during the day and a 65 mph speed limit at night.

I would think Montana's busiest airport would be the one in Kalispell which serves Glacier Park.

In order to make this section of the I-90 Massachusetts and Ohio Turnpikes NY Thruway in Montana they have to use the Northern Pacific main line MRL which is already underneath the interstate to make it. If you look at the major passes in Montana they simply follow the Railways like US-2 Northern Michigan to Washington State via the BNSF Marias Pass Continental Divide follow the NP BNSF Route.

Utah! would have kept it at 80 with variable speed limit signs . I loved the drive in the 90s with no speed limit. Sooo you may ask under sunny dry conditions how fast we would drive, moi generally between 80 mph and 130 mph. We would respect construction zone limits and observe the German rechtsfahrgebot rules. It was very safe, no reckless driving. Montana could have been a testing ground for German road rules, but alas.....

Yeah, it doesn't help that "reasonable and prudent" is pretty subjective for a speed limit and means different things to different people, so it's not surprising that a judge threw out that law. They should have just had no speed limit but and advisory speed of 80 mph like the Germans do.

How fast were you driving? I would certainly be doing at least 90 mph on a road like that maybe even faster.
