Thanks Kyle! Always a good video. A fun fact is in 2024, ITD is widening Interstate 90 from Sherman Avenue to the Washington State line. Most sections will be 6 lanes but some of it will even be 8 lanes wide! I don’t appreciate most of the growth but change is the inedible.

I read about that. It’s definitely needed, my sister lives in Rathdrum which is north of Post Falls. She has said definitely more cars on the roads. If Idaho widens I-90, then Washington needs to get interstate 90 widened from Barker Rd to Washington Idaho State Line.

Wow widening 90 in Idaho might just be the worst IDT decision of the year. The traffic on 90 is never bad and making a new lane is just going to increase the number of people using the interstate. What a waste of taxpayers money that could be used to repair existing roads and develop public transit.

Once again, a good one! Some very scenic country there. And you're also in some Bigfoot country there as well-there have been sightings in the ID Panhandle as well as in MT in the Bitterroot and west of Butte. You picked a very nice day to film. Even as someone who's lived on this stretch of I-90 forever, and has traversed it many a time, I still enjoy every mile. Also, fun fact! When they were doing work on I-90 back in the day, they ran into a slight issue where there was a series of old Civil Defense bunkers right in the way. My dad, working for the US Forest Service, was part of the crew that helped inspect the site prior to construction. While their main job was to remove the timber along the path, since he was doing law enforcement for the USFS at the time, he ended up having to be the one signing off on a lot of things up there. So he was one of the last ones to see the original site before they finished construction of the final parts back in the late eighties. He'd already left the USFS by the time they finished I-90 in '91, but still. A lot of history along that stretch of road. I know it's not in the name, but if you spread out into highways, US-95 from the Canadian border and heading south till it ends is a hell of a view.

That white suv with the bicycles at the rear from the beginning of the video really made my European drivers brain furious! Why do they keep driving on the left and stay there.... Just by watching the start of this video I could feel the pain caused by that driver. Anyway nice video! Really love the scenery!

Your video ended at Pleasant View road, which is about 2 miles East of the Washington-Idaho border. You probably stopped at the Flying-J or Loves truck stop 😃

Such an amazing region! I would love to visit one day! Incidentally, that viaduct in Wallace was the last piece of I 90 to be completed in its entire route, making it truly the longest uninterrupted interstate.

Thanks for another beautiful video. I was surprised by the low elevation of the summit of 4th of July Pass (3000ft). Measured from base to summit, the Northern Rockies are likely similar to the Central Rockies, but the bottoms are so much lower. Huge chunks of the Great Plains are higher than 3000ft and there are towns in valleys of Colorado that sit at 10,000ft.

Idaho is indeed a beautiful stretch of I90 but the stretch between George Wa. and North Bend is much more scenic, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for the ride, Kyle!

Yeah the drive over Snowqualmie Pass is probably the most scenic stretch of I-90.

I live in Post Falls, ID and agree this is a very pretty drive but not one you want to attempt at night or in winter weather (the passes, especially). Also, for the next 10 years or so there is going to be quite a lot of road construction re-routes and delays as just about every single existing on/off ramp entrance/exit is scheduled for complete overhaul and several new interchanges are planned to be built. I live 1 block away from the new I-90/SR 41 exchange currently in it's 3rd year of construction and it's not scheduled to be complete until sometime late in 2025.

It’s fine in the winter unless you’re a chump who can’t drive in the snow. It’s the traffic that makes it bad, especially if you come from a place like Seattle or California. Maybe you should move back.

@@dogmandan79 What a rude comment! I have been driving in snow for over 50 years, so I know how do do it, just choose to avoid it, especially at freeway speeds and at night. My comment really was intended more as a head's up regarding the many planned and ongoing construction projects along this stretch of the I-90 corridor which, along with the ever-increasing traffic loads, is going to test a lot of drivers' patience over the next 10 years or so.

Yes, the town designated every building as a historic landmark to stop I-90 from being built through the town, so it had to be built on that viaduct.

Yep, our paths DID cross on that day. We were on US 95, crossing the bridge over I-90 a few hours earlier that day (headed up to Athol, Id). In fact, we stopped at a Starbucks just a stone's throw north of that bridge. Small world, huh? 😎

Sure will be in next video. My mom lives in Spokane. There are good things in Spokane and not the not so good things. I loved there myself for 8 years 1993-2001. One thing that has gotten worse over years is the crime.

I last drove I-90 through here in 1983, when you still had to drive through downtown Wallace and wait at that stop light. Took that long to get the $ and engineering together to create a full-service Interstate through there. Now, if only they'd finally do something about the Interstate Bridge on I-5 between Portland and Vancouver -- the only section of I-5 between Canada and Mexico that requires a drawbridge to cross it. That damned thing is 106 years old and if the Cascadia margin decides to let loose it'll be at the bottom of the Columbia River in an instant. Politics, agendas, jurisdictional turf wars, arguments over tolling, arguments over which state spends how much on the project, etc., have all conspired to delay this long overdue project for well over 25 years now. What happens when culture wars are more important to political parties than keeping the lights on and the trains running on time.

Very scenic indeed. Although traffic levels as you drive though Coeur d'Alene leaves much to be desired. Hopefully, IDT widens it in the City & to the Washington State line in the future.
