I’ll say it again so everyone stops being confused. 2k basketball is a MONEY GENERATOR. Not a video game. The game doesn’t have a physics engine and they are NOT trying to achieve any type of realism it has an animation based algorithm designed to keep you addicted and frustrated through engineered loses and wins. The algorithm controls EVERYTHING in the game not you. It controls who youre matched up against, which direction the ball goes, what level of teammates you get AND which type of play style they use in order to set you up for success or failure. They control your jumpshot timing,green window size , recovery speed, contest strength, EVERYTHING. Your attributes and badges are just a distraction to give you the illusion of control so you keep blaming yourself instead of the game. This is exactly why you get PUNISHED for doing the only thing that is within your control (Quitting). They want you to experience all the frustration and pain they set you up for so that you keep spending money on builds and boosts over and over. Mike Wang and Ronnie are nothing but fall men they have 0 power or say so. They even hinder your freedom of speech if you are one of their paid celebrity or influencer pawns that’s why they call them (influencers) and recently rebranded it as (game-makers) to make it easier to blame anyone but them including yourself. For another year in a row you can enjoy buying the game 23 times in an attempt to rebuild your ego from the lashing they intentionally give it everyday for playing this garbage. You aren’t playing the game the game is playing your ego. 99% of the time you aren’t even having fun, you’re just seeking that next dopamine release from a scripted win against opponents who had no chance of beating you. IT IS A SCAM.

It's been like that for a minute. Why I stopped playing after 2K22. One day you can't miss and the next day same jumper, same boosts, same everything you can't make a shot to save your life. It's all manufactured and rigged for you to win when they want you to, and lose when they want you to. There are algorythm's (especially in COD) where they know exactly what kind of outcomes keep people playing the longest so they exploit your play mid game to get the desired outcome to keep you playing more and more. The more and more you stay on playing the more likely you are to dump more money into the game.

SoIlluminati, RedCityBoi, OrlandoinCHicago, Swante, have been saying this since 2017 that 2k would finesse the consumer out of their money. Nearly 8 years later, it's starting to unravel . After NBA 2k17 came out, everything went down the toilet. As long as the community pays for micro transactions and the game year after year, there is no incentive for 2K to improve their products.

I’m old enough to remember when nba live was THE nba game. 2k was hungry they were innovative. The grind is what made them listen because they weren’t established. 21:12 the only thing I hated about 17 was the Paul George loading screen 😭. Other than that it was fire asl, that was the first 2k I found out what a point forward was. First build was a 6’7 sharpshooter, then a 6’5 playmaker, then finally my 6’9 point forward. Even back then mycareer was fun, remember getting a pop up when 2k telling you u unlocked your grand badge or your hof level badges😎‼️…sighhhh the good old days 😪

This game or any 2k game wouldn’t be so damn bad if it wasn’t for the cost to build a player, if 2k made the builds 80% cheaper, the whole 2k community would dance all night on the game. In perspective, if a build cost an average 380k, 80% less would be around 75k a build. That’s $20 to max them out. If you spent $100 that’s 5 builds you can max out and have fun on. Now if I spend $100, I get one build and “rebirth to 99,” which will take forever to max out by grinding with my only build. Ain’t no one got time for that or have fun doing that. 2k is in shambles for being that greedy.

People need to see 2k through the lens of a business. You can’t fault a company for wanting to make money, but how a company makes money matters. Once you realize that every game play decision is geared towards psychologically tricking you to spending more money and making more builds, then everything happening makes sense. I have IRLs that made 1-2 builds last year saying this game trash and already have 5+ builds. Combine that with a community of basketball fans that just love basketball so we torture ourselves playing this trash cuz we love the sport and it’s the only major game out there for it. It doesn’t fix anything but the first step to addressing the issue is understanding where it comes from.

2k25 is the most realistic 2k ever, but only when you play comp AI. The realism is lost when you play online against other people. That’s because PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM! The vast majority of the community is not interested in playing 2k the way basketball meant to be played. I don’t even think most players know how to play basketball. Most are gamers looking to win by exploiting mechanics. That’s why the game always seems unrealistic.

25 is def the worst to me.. I’ve played since Dreamcast and this game has had me switching consoles back and forth trying to find consistency because shooting sucks, I can’t use my dunk meter half the time, I get pulled out of animations. Then last week after an update latency was so bad that I would be dribbling to get away from the lock and try to pass and I would have to spam it 5-6 times before the ball would even pass it making it a late pass or I just turn the ball over… it still happens and and it’s just overly annoying.. if I wasn’t a basketball head I wouldn’t even play..

However, as long as 2K remains the dominant option, with the community continuing to invest hard-earned money despite widespread dissatisfaction, there is no real incentive for change. Content creators, especially prominent KZbinrs, have a unique role in this process. They are the voice of the community, and their platforms can amplify the call for collective action. By uniting and encouraging the community to boycott 2K, we can send a strong message that the current state of the game is unacceptable. While this will undoubtedly be challenging, the only way to effect change is to impact their bottom line-their revenue. If we are serious about creating a better basketball gaming experience, we must act together. Change will not come without collective effort and sacrifice.

Man if the shooting isn’t bad enough the way they COMPLETELY nerfed layups in this years game is beyond comprehension, layups were good as of not better than dunks on 24’, this year you can miss wide open lays with regularity, bending the corner and hitting a lay or scoopy is damn near non existent because of the clunkiness, no fluid motion at all, shits sad man, my first build was all lay no dunk, waste of money right off the bat.

2k24 was the best game on next gen. Every playstyle was viable, offensively and defensively. Needed to be refined and fine tuned and it had no RNG.

I understand all the grievances, for me since I don’t play any of the pay to play modes(park, myteam or mycareer) only play MyNBA. After a whole lots of adjusting of badges, ratings, tendencies, coaches setting I’m finally found sim game play and I’m having the most fun Ive had on a 2k game since 16. 2K has a lot of problems when it comes to balancing gameplay for online human vs human but I gotta say they have the system in place albeit with many tweaks to have a fun time offline vs the comp

1:00 I will have to disagree. If you look at the Take Two portfolio, the companies and games under them are Rockstar/GTA, Epic/Fortnite, and NBA2k. What do those games have in common? An insane amount of in game content that are forcefully marketed and competitive advantages. They are all using the same predatory behavior.

Floaters are useless too They miss even when you have 99 close shot and you get a good floater animation maybe 1/10 attempts Also you gotta get too close to even activate one when guys like Darius Garland run 50% of their offense through the fear of a floater

Playing Center on 2k has always been a staple for me. 2k25 is by far the worst experience I've ever had Playing Center. Not one single mechanic is applicable when it comes to Playing big

In a nutshell it just makes me sad that the game is the way it is. It sucks because they added a lot of really cool features that are shrouded in just downright terrible gameplay. It's gotten to the point where I don't even get mad at dumb stuff happening I just laugh it off knowing that it's just apart of the game which as a consumer is not something I should have to say to myself.

i can’t lie.. i’ve never felt this bad on 2k i had a bad time on 18 and 21 but this year it makes me feel like i just started playing 2k some games my jump shot timing is perfect when i use thumb stick then i try my X (xbox) and shoot that same timing because im watching the visuals and it’ll be slightly early or late i make the adjustment green ayeeee run down again try that same timing “slightly early” i can’t lie if i didn’t like basketball i’d quit fast asf but i just.. love basketball so i continue to play

AllCity keep doing your thing bro! I’m just gonna mention one thing. The devs “work for us” in the terms of making a game for us to enjoy…but they don’t work for us AT ALL. They work for the Take Two/2K/2K Sports board of directors to make a profit year over year PERIOD. They don’t care about us as the consumers. No matter who or how much we complain they aren’t going to listen. If we wanna make a difference, we need to collectively stop buying VC and making more than one build. It’s that simple. Also…the attribute and badge system is and has been broken and arguably doesn’t matter, at least in the terms of badges. They need to rework and overhaul the whole thing.

Literally 2024 was 100x more fluid , second season broke the game I finally found my shot timing end of season 1 now everyday i Have to move my meter .. but my pg is slow and clunky and i made same build as last year but better and now im literally a bum now i just deleted it fr fr because i know my timing
