You'd think this is an insane stretch just for the sake of the anime but apparently there were incidents like this happening in real life.

Absolutely yes, especially when Kaori intervened to help them stop. To be honest, some tears fell down in the moment when Ryosuke and Rin realized that she was actually there... just beautiful and very meaningful. 👍💙

And when I understood the real point behind this race, the character of Ryosuke became for me a real hero. In this battle, he put himself risking his own life with the only assurance from his skills and his FC. And why? To save a man who lost his will to live and has lost it to the point to wanting to kill Ryo for real, for a love lost from the both of them but whithout anything bad done from the latter. A true hero in here, hands down! 💪

This is the coolest scene in the whole series for me I once drove down a mountain in Turkey and my brakes almost did nothing anymore and actually started burning. On my own this would have been pretty bad but I had 3 family members with me.
