I was there when it happened. I was all in for Owen when it happened. I got a bunch of my friends into his comedy and trying to support him standing up to the Hollywood evil. But after about 8 months to a year of it, it started to show the symptoms of a cult. He calls himself "Big Bear" because he's really tall, like 6'7-6'9. But all his minions were adopting their own bear monachers. He would have his minions mail him physical cash in the mail and call it a "super chat." More than once he said how easy it would be to start a cult. I remember he got "the bears" to call a comedy club and leave angry messages for cancelling his show. If you dared disagree with him or if you wrote something that "the bears" questioned they'd attack. When I realized it was cult like behavior I stuck around for a couple months to see where it was going? I was waiting to see if it became a militia or something? It was so nuts to watch. He built a network for himself and it probably still works to this day. He teamed up with a guy named Vox Day ( Theodore Robert Beale) and they were starting their own KZbin like network where you pay for their content the last time I checked.

I actually gained a lot of respect for Lex with his approach to that conversation. Lex kept harping on 'humility', which is exactly the key/answer to Sam's biggest issue. Instead of taking the hint, Sam argues every point he makes with the ferocity that could only come from knowing he's always right, despite the obvious unlikelihood of that being the case. Ironically, he has a good 45 minute rant on how it's impossible to be an expert on more than a small handful of topics, due to the complexity of our modern world, but then confidently and definitively states his opinions as facts on myriad topics. He then stated that people who are intelligent and eloquent (like he admits he is himself), with a cursory understanding of a topic, can convince themselves they understand said topic much better than they actually do and string together bullshit that is difficult for most people to discern from the truth. My head almost exploded. It reminded me of how intelligent psychopaths think they can talk their way out of a murder conviction in a police interrogation, because the cops are dumber than they are. They may be accurate in their assessment, but those 'dumb' cops somehow manage to 'brute force' that intelligence by getting the psycho to talk enough to find the contradictions in their story. Sam always seems stuck in the formal debate mentality: landing dozens of spicy jabs and emotionally winning an audience is not the same thing as being right.

used to follow owen back in the day. i tuned in for all the Big Bear live streams.. was there for the winter in the shed/garage whatever, the outdoor streams in the garden, a lot of it… then he just got sooo far gone that it wasn’t entertaining anymore. it became a cult where if you disagreed, he banned you.

OB is grifty but all the comics that were hating on him. All turned into total cowards and weaklings in 2020. Their brand of comedy is toothless, offended, and scared. Rogan himself doesn’t even get comedy anymore. There’s tons of videos online now of Jokes going over his head but he’s supposed to be the new mittsy shore gatekeeper of comedy. They’ve taken comedy and corporatized it even more then it already was. OB for his part did go a bit mad leaving Hollywood, because it was his livelihood. But I’ll give him credit. He’s made a pretty solid life that anyone with a pair of good eyes to see, would want. And his comedy is his, and not anyone else’s the way rogan wanted it to be.

I have two things to say, one about your talking about burts laugh. he was on rogan saying all his viral clips are of him laughing. so, thats why the red faced squeak thing is happening. As for Owen. he went into flight and fight. he lost his head and took his eyes of the prize. the intervention was so painful to watch, he didnt understand, you could see it in his face. he thought he was being attacked not helped. He told Joe that he was not loyal, instead of joe trying to help him more joe dug his heels in about the no loyal comment and seemingly cut him loose to sink or swim knowing that he would sink.

Shane Gillis isn't a political comedian. He keeps getting pigeon-holed as a "right-wing comedian," but he's not. The fact that he did a BlazeTV sketch doesn't mean that he is, only that he likes to work. Also, the BlazeTV fireman sketch is actually a good sketch because it had a point to make, that the media will create a hero, chew them up, spit them out and then walk over their body on their way to creating another hero.
