The best version of “After Midnight” ever recorded! Every time I hear this song on radio, I go back to KZbin to listen to this version. Sure the mixing may not be technically perfect, but it’s still the best recording. Like another comment said: his grin when the tambourine steps in… wonderful! but even better: you can HEAR that grin in the next line he sings….

JJ Cale was one of the musicians my mum always played the records of when I was a baby. "After Midnight" and "Clyde" were her favourites and seeing him perform one live of them is so cool! :D There is nothing better than live performances for really "getting" a song. xx

This version, candlelight, soft music. Eric's first version, a party going into full swing and joy, everybody happy. Eric's night version, film noir atmosphere, contrasty black and white, sideways glances, furtive weapon checks, things are about to get, um, real.

This man is so cool. I love his music. I had to laugh at the 2:40 mark. The old timer was doing his thing on the keyboards, and the bass player was looking over with a look of concern, kind of like the way Trump was looking at Biden during the recent televised presidential debates. He was cool though, and he did his thing with flying colours. What an awesome band!
