That tractor is still working hard for it's owner and doing a great job of it too. I wanted to get a new Ford tractor when I was in the Air Force, and plow the soil and plant vegetables, but by the time I got out and moved back home the only brand which was sold in my area was the John Deere brand so I purchased one of them. I got another one from the same dealer last year and love them both. I learned how to drive a tractor in 1965 on a Massey Ferguson who belonged to a family I was working for as a teen.

nice to see these old fords still doing work and glad to see the little one riding along. When I was a kid I used to ride with my grandfather while he worked his small farm and also skidded logs. I think its some part of a normal American childhood to ride on an old ford when you're little. I used to sit on the hood though with one leg on either side. I'd bet the safety police would be all over that today

if you get your timing right you can raise and lower implements without stopping. more acres per hour and easier on the clutch
@Larsenvlogs3 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing he knows that and is driving a little easier because he's holding a kid also

sweet little setup you've got there

At those speeds and on flat ground it all looks pretty safe to me. Push in the clutch or shut off the key...everything comes to a stop. That kid will remember that for the rest of his life and it will shape the man he becomes in this world. Good job Grandpa!

It looks worse than it is. My father put us all on the tractor as young children. Story has it I used to fall asleep as an infant riding on our 52 8n while cutting grass with a sickle bar mower.

Exactly! That kid will be hooked on tractors and will want one just like it now! Having ridden on the fender of a tractor for many years of my young life, this looks so safe OSHA would approve! Heck motorcycles are more dangerous than this could ever dream of being!!

Nice looking 2N! I find driving my 8n with a human on my lap to be challenging. Would also like to hear opinions on your disk. I am looking into one.

did you just disc after plowing? and did it cut up the sod pretty good?
@McCuneWindandSolar9 жыл бұрын
I have a quick question I have a Ford 2N 1943 tractor I just got. I was disking with it today, and it will not lift the disk its the same size as the one you are using, and it would not lift it. I saw place's were it can lift up to 800 LB and 1200 LB with a front weight. yet this will not lift it. now if I put the level in the up position it will try but will not lift but if I and a friend I have pull up on the disk it will go up and stay up. Can that be the PUMP. If so please let me know if you have any idea of what it could be so I can get her fixed up right. Thanks in advance.

McCuneWindandSolar Sounds like a pump issue to me.

safety--- never disk with someone riding much less a small child!!!
@calebwilson48544 жыл бұрын
Agreed! That's a huge safety risk.
@852urkl4 жыл бұрын
Hardly a safety risk. The kid isn't going to fall off, they aren't running at high speeds and he's taking his time. You take greater risks than them everytime you hop on a motorcycle frankly. And people have two riders on motorcycles all the time.... I've ridden on the fender and steps of tractors and equipment my whole life, as well as driven with people on the fender and steps.NEVER once did I ever have a moment where I thought I or the person riding was in trouble. It's all about being smart and aware of the situation, if you do somethings stupid or they do something stupid, of course trouble will happen.
