Hopefully I was able to cover some of the main points between T steering vs. Y steering. If anything was missed or not 100% accurate then feel free to add more in the comments with what you know about the two of them!

You can just say 2001 Cummins. The 24 valve is just a given since they stopped making the 12v in early 98.

Just an clarify here. 98-99HD steering doesn't work on a 2000 and up truck. The tapers are different. Now from 2000 to current the 2500/3500 tapers didn't change. So you can actually use the 4th gen beefier steering kit Mopar sells. Also to get rid of the "roll" you insert a puck (which come with factory parts), the only aftermarket manufacture that still uses the puck is ACDelco.
@manuellantin1275 жыл бұрын

Have you checked your ball joints? Jack it up and check them out. Id be willing to bet they'll probably need to be replaced. Check the wheel bearing out too. If just replace everything all at once while you're in there and have it all apart. The wheel bearing has to come out to do the ball joints anyways. It would also be a good time to check the axle shaft u joints and/or replace them also. Freshen everything up and not worry about any of it again fpr awhile.

Hey do you know if the transfer case and the front axles are the same on a 99 Dodge gas motor truck 2500 four-wheel drive as my 3500 4 wheel drive dually Cummins.?. I got T-boned by some drunk ass dude doing 80 He actually skimmed my rear fender who plowed into the back door and my door kind of pushing down my truck hit my front driver side wheel bent the whole thing putting the other way. But I got this part stuck and I was going to try to put all the parts on it I'm just hoping that the axles are the same gears inside and I was hoping the transfer case is the same I don't really want nothing to do with that. Thanks, looking to buy a 2002 2500, still waffling between a Cummings or a 360. But one that 2500 Cummings I am looking at has the T steering upgrade which I was not sure of what it entailed at first so nice explanation. Is the Bilstein shock you mentioned the bast stabilizer to get? I see alot of the Rancho and others rusting up pretty bad in a short time, this is a concern for me since I am in MN. Any thoughts on which route to take on the trucks might be helpful....Thanks

I'm not sure on that one. I dont reme5the brake sizes on them compared to a 3rd gen 1500. I'd assume they're both a 5 lug wheel and most likely interchangeable but I'm just not 100% sure.

Hey man, I got a 98.5 12v with the T style steering on it, was just curious if you know of any solutions to the centerlink roll causing steering play issue. I'm currently having that problem, and I can't really see any way around it. Replacing the ball joints etc wont change anything since A. They're tight anyways. And B. The slop comes from them pivoting side to side.

Quality of parts used is also a big part. Local parts house parts might have a lifetime warranty, but most of the time are made in China and don't hold up.
