Dennis I enjoy watching you make your magic on the fishing reels. I have learned a lot and just completed doing my first spinning reel. Thanks Rick

I took apart a Zebco Prostaff 20 this evening which is almost identical to this reel. This video helped me to get the spool off. Thanks!

I just got another saltwater size rear drag reel today. It didn’t cost much so I thought I’d learn more about the reel and got it. Though it is much larger than this Zebco reel it is very similar to it. it is a Quantum Predator GP70 and is quite a nice reel. It is far simpler than that Ryobi Star drag S3000 reel I sent you the schematic for recently. The rear drag on this Quantum is different from this Ryobi reel and is much more substantial than this Zebco. On the foot of the Quantum it says Zebco made in Korea. The Quantum case is all metal and only the spool is graphite. It holds 210 yds. of 20 lb. mono. so it is a large and somewhat heavy reel. You can see the drag stack when you remove the side plate. It has quite a few washers in it. It is not as big as that huge Shimano I got a few months ago but almost. This was a nice video of a small Zebco cousin of this Quantum. The Quantum has a ball bearing and two bronze bushings. I enjoyed this video Dennis!

Thanks Chris. As you know, I am not a big fan of saltwater rear drag reels, but they are useful.

@@2ndChanceTackle I’m not what I’d call a fan of them either. Give me my Daiwas, Penns, and especially Mitchells all day long. I do like two of the four I have for surf fishing here in NC. I’d be lost if I hooked a big shark with a rear drag though. If we had those big NJ bluefish and stripers that would be an entirely different situation. For us down here the occasional big red or big ugly is usually the largest fish we catch with the rare and notable exceptions.

Thanks for the video! I have the exact same issue with this 1996 model- very appreciated! What type grease do you use? I have some marine grease but it seems to be much thicker than the grease you are using

I use Penn Precision Reel greases and Oils and I only recommend greases designed for fishing reels. They don't cost much and are made for just reels. You can get the greases for less than $10 on Amazon of other online sites - Dennis

Hey dennis. I recently acquired a Shakespeare 2306RL spinning reel and I took the bail spring out. I made a note of its orientation, but I can't seem to reset it. I've attempted several times with no luck. If you get a chance and one of these reels, could you make a video on how to do that ? Thanks in advance

I’ve just recently started trying to service the fishing equipment that my mom inherited from her dad. There happened to b one of these reels in the inventory, so I’m not fluent in servicing a reel. While tryin to take this one apart a flat v shaped part flew out of it, and I didn’t catch where it came from, so I went searching KZbin for a how to video and found ur video sir. I watched the whole video, and I noticed that u didn’t take the completely apart, and the piece that I’m trying to figure out where it goes wasn’t any of the parts u took apart sir, so I’m still stuck with not being able to put the reel back together, so I’m the guy staring at his reel and saying now what do I do, I just ruined one of my papaws reels 🥹

Chad - that V shaped spring nests behind the A/R toggle switch and provides tension when the switch moves. It goes point in and one side rests on the inner case and one side on the switch arm. The side plate then holds it is place one it is reattached - Dennis
