Keepers of the spirit and traditions of America. Do not allow monuments to Confederate generals to be demolished. This has always been an unspoken honorable compromise between the North and the South. From Russia with love.

An outstanding melody gentlemen. The South's songs are always filled with so much more character than the North's.
@seeul8rwaynekerr2 жыл бұрын
The main thing with this song is it exactly matches the kind of rhythm of the rowed boat of a determined person. Not someone wanting to to break records, but someone out fishing or delivering goods to the Confederate soldiers/fleet. If I ever get to visit the southern states I'll be wanting to play this song whilst exploring the Mississippi River in a small craft.

Good Morning! How nice to see a new video of you!!! Awesome interpretation, as always! We love this type of music and hear it very often. Thanks very much for the kind words ! Here's a good place to start: www.loc.gov/collections/american-sheet-music-1820-to-1860/about-this-collection/ Please remember, much of this material would be considered highly offensive in today's society. However, it is of an historical nature, and therefore worthy of preservation. Happy hunting !
@deutz_542 жыл бұрын
@@2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand Thank you so very much! It seems as if there are a lot of treasures to find there. We are interested in history and share your attitude, that these songs are worth to preserve. Your work contributes to keeping this heritage alive. We therefore wish you success for your work. We got all of your albums on compact discs and we got the cd´s with the confederate music of Bobby Horton too. So if you are going to release another album, we are sure going to order it.

@@deutz_54 Have you downloaded the digital album, "Ain't Dead Yet" ? You can get it from iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, and Spotify, I believe. Nearly 2 hours of instrumental music in one place, collected from all of our previous work and including 6 new tracks recorded a couple of years ago. Sadly, there will be no new albums. We have 'aged-out' and retired.

In a way, it’s sad that this isn’t as popular as the other tunes of the time period. It’s a nice romance ballad. Though, in another way, it’s nice that it isn’t as well-known as the others, since it saves it from being too terribly corrupted from its original form. It hasn’t gone through the multiple adaptations that “Listen to the Mockingbird” or “Dixie” have, which have diluted the original lyrics to the point of parody. It’s nice, it’s wholesome, and it makes for a great song to sing to your true love.
