These look aweeeesome…definitely adding to the test drive this spring! Some really exciting clubs coming out…I was under the impression that grooves don’t actually directly cause spin. The reason for grooves is to take matter (dirt & grass) off the club face and thus indirectly helping the club create spin…thus, it seems that since you don’t normally dig down as much with the longer irons, you don’t need more/deeper grooves like you would with the shorter irons…either way, great idea.
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Thanks for watching! Both things are true in regard to the grooves and spin. Ultimately they are there to create friction/interaction between the clubface and the ball.

Every reviewer I watch draws the heck out of the ZXi7. My occasional miss is an inside/out overcooked draw - and with the super low spin of these irons, I can't deal with the left miss ever. My hopes for this year was that Srixon would remove some offset and increase spin.
@TheDeepsilverКүн бұрын
I play the ZX7's 1.5* weak, this takes out a decent amount of offset

I hesitate to make too much of the flight differences between these 3 models as Drew swung the ZXi7 5 mph faster than he swung the ZXi4. Had he put as much speed into the ZXi4 it might well have spun more and carried significantly more than it did.
@2ndswingКүн бұрын
Correct - I took it easy with the ZXi4 knowing people don’t love someone swinging 90+ MPH with that type of iron for testing. Thanks for watching!

Thought on zxi7 vs titleist t150? Forgiveness?
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Great question. Haven't done a head to head test yet, but my initial thought is it would be really close between the two. Gut instinct is the ZXi7 may be slightly more forgiving just because the footprint is slightly larger, but that's purely speculation - Drew

How do the Srixon ZXi7 compare to the Mizuno S3?
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Great question! To me, after hitting both, I'd say the Mizuno Pro S-3 is more of a "players" iron than the ZXi7. Pro S-3 is a little bit smaller, and the loft is a touch weaker as well. That said, the venn diagram of players that will fit into these irons is nearly a circle. The ZXi7 packs a bit more of a punch distance-wise. Both irons feel awesome! Thanks for watching our videos! - Drew

Are these actually forged or is I-forged a marketing term? They look great!
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Definitely forged! The ZXi7 is a single-piece forging while the other two models combine multiple parts, so the feel is slightly different because of that. Nonetheless they all feel really good

after watching some of the reviews in youtube channels I realised that the selling gimmick of local japan market and the western market for ZXI7 of this generation is different....no one mentioned the S15C steel and the forging process to reinforce the hosel of ZXI7...? or local japan and export iron use different materials?

Had a full set of the mk2 zx5's for a season. Hit them well - but I couldn't get over the techy feel of the irons. Im high handicap player and now game the Z-FORGED MK2 irons 5-PW. I strike them better, have better dispersion and ball flight is far more consistent. Srixon blades have to be some of the most forgiving ever made - I do wonder if they intend on making a zxi Forged iron - I still only see the z-forged 2 on their website.
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Great feedback! Srixon's new forging process is a winner. The ZXi7s feel sweet. I imagine a blade would be even better
@stevetreehots3583Күн бұрын
only problem is your zxi4 is really a 5 iron. No idea why everyone pretends 29* irons are still a 7 iron. Its a short 5 iron.
@2ndswingКүн бұрын
LOL, you're not wrong. With that said though, while the lofts have gotten much stronger...the tech in the clubs produces much higher launch

Srixon isn’t the only OEM with this approach. Frankly most people can leave longer clubs out of the bag with sets like this and add extra wedges.

Same old tired response for the last 10 years.
@stevetreehots358318 сағат бұрын
@@2ndswing it produces a slightly higher launch. That “seven” iron wasn’t launching high enough. It was also not spinning even close to high enough to be an accurate scoring club. Are you unaware that back spin helps to keep your shot online and also stops it quicker? I have never seen a video that proves these game improvement clubs are more accurate. Forgiveness is not what you need, you need it to more consistently go to your target. I don’t think the zxi4 does that.
@kooijbasКүн бұрын
Aren't those spin rates on the ZXi4 are way too low?
@adambarnes4191Күн бұрын
They're low, but the loft is lower, too. The 1k spin per club, 6k for 6 iron, was with traditional lofts. Zxi4 6 iron is closer to a 4.5 iron.
@johnbrodnik839Күн бұрын
Oh oh. Someone figured out the distance claims! 😊
@kooijbasКүн бұрын
@@adambarnes4191 I think that's just stupid. They're game improvement irons, for high handicap players. A high handicap player can't launch a 4 iron. Usually the excuse is that the flight characteristics are that of a 7 iron, but that's clearly not the case. So who are these for? Even in the review they have trouble figuring it out, talking about "high swing speed players with too much spin, a high ball flight and a high handicap". These just don't look good. The ZXi 7 look great though, but it should be telling that the ZXi7 has 4 degrees more loft, but carries the same distance. Plus has way, way better flight and spin.
@2ndswing12 сағат бұрын
Spin rate was low, no doubt. Part of that was my swing (very neutral attack angle with an inside-to-out path) and part of it was the distance-oriented design of the club. I also swung the ZXi5 and ZXi7 models faster.
