He mirrored our fears, lives, loves, concerns and while some of his comments were hurtful when I first heard and saw him perform, I soon learned (usually from friends telling me such things) not to take it seriously. That doesn't mean it won't be taken as hurtful, but realize that he just was showing us how we are many times. Still, he is a genius doing what he loved doing, making people laugh. That's ultimately a comics job

High school should have a class that prepares and teaches about the hellish life they're gonna have when they have to take students loans in order to pay for a sub par education on college, just to have a degree they won't be able to make use of, because every business o corporation they seek work in, will ask them for 10 years of experience and then they'll have to move in back with their parents and work at the local McDonald's (which they're already familiar since that was one of the 10 part time job they had to take in order to pay the loans).

School is there to teach you how to learn. There's no point in teaching kids actual knowledge, since the world is changing so quickly nowadays. What you've learned today will be outdated 5 years later already. The only thing you really need to know is how to learn new things by yourself, because that's what you'll be doing all the time. So what schools are actually teaching is the "learning process" and for that the basics are completely fine. Besides, the basics are more useful, than people think.
@SoloGuitar10004 жыл бұрын
The best lesson I got from school is "learning how to learn." It doesn't matter if what you're learning at he moment is useless, you need to develop skills to eventually know how to teach yourself. When you're on your own, there isn't anybody there to hold your hand and walk you through what you need to know to live.
@d34d10ck4 жыл бұрын
@@SoloGuitar1000 Exactly. It also tries to teach you the scientific method, so that your decisions will be based on logical deductions and not based on feelings. Something that doesn't seem to be working judging by todays society.

PEEING ON MY FLOWERS A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large plastic garbage bags behind her. One of the bags was ripped and every once in awhile a $20 bill fell out onto the sidewalk. Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said, "Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag." "Oh, really? Darn it!" said the little old lady. "I'd better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me, Officer." "Well, now, not so fast," said the cop. " Where did you get all that money? You didn't steal it, did you?" "Oh, no, no", said the old lady. "You see, my back yard is right next to a Golf course. A lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in my fence, right into my flower garden. It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, 'why not make the best of it?' So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers. Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say, 'O.K., buddy! Give me $20 or off it comes!' "Well, that seems only fair," said the cop, laughing ."OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what's in the other bag?" "Not everybody pays."

When he's talking about credit cards...back in those days, they had to call a number, and you had to take an imprint of the card. It took forever. That's why he's complaining. Today, in the day of debit cards, it's instant and faster than cash, so I'm sure he'd be ok with that today. You have to take his complaints knowing the time he made them and what was involved with credit cards then.

I don't think the kind of Self-Help and Motivational books Carlin was referring to was the same as what it refers to now. Back then motivational and self-help books were more of the TV-Shop variety, with talking to yourself in a mirror, and stuff like that. Today these names for books refer more to like you said Tony Robbins stuff, which are more about using the Law of Attraction to achieve goals for yourself. Back in the day when Carlin did this, the techniques and technology behind the current stuff are things like quantum physics, NLP, visualization, and removing belief-blockages, which were basically unknown to the masses, still locked behind key and accessible only to secret Governmental programs and Hermetic Societies. I'm just saying...
