As you know (I think) I'm a proponent of the 2 Pineapples module (as are many of my local racers who told me to get it). Glad to see you have the same great performance I do on this module. I don't have the usability issues you do because we simply use the IMD6 channels now and it looks as though we will be using raceband next year. Thus I wouldn't go into the menu much if at all. Thanks again for taking the time to do this! I wanted to add a tip that someone gave me in getting the 2Pineapples module....PM them on Facebook and hopefully you get lucky and they let you pre-order it. Thats how I got mine.

Just wanted to say, although I'm sure the Furious 5-way is a solid piece of kit, the X-Air antennas you put on it are the best directional antennas I've ever used. Putting theoretical antenna gains aside, I get more range with one of those than any other directional antenna I've used. I'm certain those antennas didn't do any harm to the Furious 5-way's excellent performance!

To get CV system working you need two identical antennas pointing to the same direction.

This is a persistent and incorrect rumor. ClearView's performance is about 75%-80% of how good it would be if both antennas got the signal. Thus, 2 identical antennas aimed in the same direction are not actually needed.

Have you ever considered quantifying the amount of breakup in each of these videos? Would the total number of pixels over the course of the track be a reasonable estimate? I'm pretty familiar with software like ImageJ for my work which is a pretty powerful image analysis suite and would really ne interested in seeing an unbiased analysis.

I don't mind my regular Nextwave rx. It don't have crazy breakup and stays very clear in most areas I fly. Most the time I stay within a 125m area, not diving buildings like Steele tho.

as with all these things its tough to call, money/performance/usability... its great to see them all in one go like this. a youtuber called ando commando flies over 200m away and behind trees and low and below line of sight sometimes and he still has fantastic signal, i'm wondering if particular channels suit particular antennae, he uses tbs and a rubber ducky over the fatshark patch... maybe specific channels degrade more gently than less specific tuned ones. .. ps. if you have a fast internet and fast computer.. plug in to google earth map and go fly mount st helens.

Im trying to buy the overlord but it isnt available still. They apparently ran out some time ago and havnt restocked yet. Are you still happy with it? Have you used it much? Will the tbs unify prov2 make much of a difference when set at the max mw?

I don't have the Overlord any more. I fly mostly off Clearview or my diversity module. 800 mW from the Unify Pro will make a big difference compared to lower output power.

Like the review just wish 2 things #1 you had enough cheep DVRs to record one flight with all the receivers recording at once #2 all the receivers were running the same antennas so it's all up to the receiver sensitivity. But still an awesome review & thank you for all the hard / fun work LoL

All receivers were running the same antennas, except for cases like the Overlord or the True-D, where it didn't make sense. For the 5-way and 6-way diversity setups, they're intended to be set up in an "omni-like" configuration with directional antennas pointing in every direction. Of course, with the Furious, you can set it up however you wish, but that's the way that makes the most sense to me. For the FS modules, it would require some hacking to get them powered on and outputting video to a DVR without installing them in the goggles. I agree that having a bunch of DVRs recording exactly the same flight would be ideal. Oh, and it would have taken a LOT less of my time too ... For this round of testing, I did run Furious, Overlord, and 2pineapples on the same flight with multiple DVRs.

The bottom row is an Eagle. The top row is an 1177 or XAT600 or something like that. Basically an 1177. The top row is all the same camera, same settings, just different days or times of day. IMO, there is absolutely no comparison between the image of the Eagle and the 1177. The 1177's image is more contrasty and saturated, but with much less dynamic range. Personally, I'll take dynamic range over contrast any day for flying. But a lot of people disagree. Anyway, for a properly fair comparison you would have to at least take an 1177 and an Eagle on the same day. Comparing the Eagle on a cloudy day in winter with the 1177 on a sunny day in summer is not fair.

I'm relatively new to this, but as an ex-photographer I can't believe how bad the video is. By the time I've worked out what the grainy image is showing me, I've hit it. The Eagle was a huge improvement for me.

I have tested the Overlord antenna in shop, test it for yourself , it is 6 DBI not 14.. Put some VAS crosshairs on it and it wins

Maybe it wins, but with $200 in antennas on it, it's in a very different price category. I never fully trusted the Overlord after it had some diversity switching glitches that left me seeing static.

2pineapples have skyzone sky02 v+ hardware in it. i switched to the new sky's because the display and lenses are even better then every fatshark i have seen. if you have no goggles already, or have focus probs - get a sky.

after Jan Mittner recommended me the Sky V+ i tried and switched to it. 2pineapples are using the same receiver i heard and the glichtes are way less disturbing and the image in the googles itself is crystal clear. even for my dad which has -2 diopters.

am i the only one who point the fact that some test where made with leafs in trees and other without ? It's bugging me a bit. I fly in woods alot in my backyard and as soon as leafs fall, i get a way better reception. For that reason, maybe the distance between the worst and the best is closer than it look.

I re-checked the results and it's notable that three of the four ones I just tested had the longest range of anything else I've tested on the 2nd half of the range test. Maybe it would be worthwhile to fly at least one more test on e.g. the LaForge to compare against the Group One results and provide a benchmark.

+Scootersnmore 200 mW. Quadrupling power doubles range so going from 200 to 800 mW would double range in free space. Going to 600 does make a difference.
