Hi Kevin…One more comment….This tech Tuesday was absolutely awesome…! I just picked up a 1981 MX80….no spark, so I was listening to every word intently…!! The coil under the magneto is physically damaged, loose windings, and several “cut” wires. I can’t thank you enough ….

You can rewind the coil yourself. Buy “magnet wire “ of the same diameter. Unwind the wire and rewind it in the same direction with the same length of new wire. Sand the insulation from the beginning and the end of the wire where the connections are made. Keep the wire snug and you can kind of glue each layer in place with white glue if you want.

Hi Kevin…I just got a 1978 KD80. The previous owner said he didn’t trust the “oiler”, and mixed the gas ….50:1 I thought I heard you say the rotary valve engine is set up for 25:1……The bike runs, but it looks like I better get the oiler working…. Any chance you have a side cover for the kd80…? It’s missing, haven’t seen any on eBay…..

Morning Kev, On the battery install - the 2 blue wires are the negative and the single black is the positive?

I think it is on backwards but battery is dead anyway
