You make the bury look so easy. I have tried 10 times and either the tape pulls off inside the rope or the tag end pulls out of the fishtape or wire it does not matter what I use.

I have just done a lot of them. Did you cut 1/2 the strands on the tag end that you are connecting to your pull tool? That helps a lot. Tapered back cuts is even better (cut each a bit shorter than the next)

@@jerrygrose468 I will beep trying. good thing the winch rope is cheap, I ruined a couple pieces already. Can you explain better what you mean by tapered back cut? Thanks for all your help.

I'm thinking of using an amsteel prusic on repel rope for my foot tether.

@@michaelpuerling8482 So, on the end that you are trying to bury, you want to taper the end back, to make it a smoother transition into the bury. Do this by cutting a few strands back 1/4 inch, then a few a 1/2 inch, then a few 3/4 and finally the last few 1 inch. Leave a few full length to attach to your pull device.

I know !! I tried is short loop a dozen times, kept messing it up, took a break, next try came out smooth, longer loops seem easier and a fresh cord slides Better than one that has been messed with repeatedly.

I couldn’t tell, but you might consider making the connection in your prusik a locked Brummell before you bury each side Fantastic work I’m definitely trying this

Thanks and I could not agree more! Yes sir, every loop and bury is a locked brummel.

Jerry Thanks for this video. Very cool. Do you still run this method even with all the new sticks out there? Also, Your video breaks on the foot loop as you are going to do the bury to then its all done. My question is this. I tried the bury from the location nearest the tag end at the woopie sling for the boot strap. but if you dont do a locked bremmel eye then the loop you make to girth hitch around the tree can be pulled out from the bury. Not with weight but if just messing with the ropes it can ease out. How do you overcome that? Tape it? Stitch it? Just curious as I didnt like the idea that I could just yank it out if I wanted. The video was not clear on that section. Thanks again

Jerry, Thank you for video! It is great! However, I have to warn others - the cheap rope is bad now. Bought it 12-18-21 - bad quality now: threads are shifting, WORST splice ever! Has lot of "memory" from the coil and is pain it the ass to work with. If you are not a pro on splicing - use Lot of tape when do full enclosure. the treads separating like crazy and Catch on anything! Use amsteal if you want happy experience (it is NOT that). I was able to make it but if it would be my 10-20th splice - I'd be really unhappy! Good luck to all! And again, it is just warning regarding current material in store! video is great as usually! Thank you! Continue to share materials pls! it is very helpful!

I agree. Its always better to go with a quality rope. Each user should be aware of what you are buying and do your due diligence!

are your prusiks smaller diameter Amsteel than the main line?

I’m a little confused how you mark the tether and create one end shorter for the stopper knot. Do you start the Brummell from the true center or six inches from the one foot mark which you made one foot from center?

Hey Jerry. I’m trying to wrap my head around this. So I wouldn’t use my Oplux tether with this 2TC system? I’m thinking I’d use my repel line as a tether on the way up and hunt from it then repel down. I need to find the video of you climbing with it again. It’s been a while. Does your video address going around branches?
@jerrygrose468
@jerrygrose468 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, yes sir, you can use the leg loop on your main tether/rappel line. Thats what I do. You will need a seperate foot loop that is seperate from your main tether.

If a 7 inch bury for a winch cable is trustworthy, why is it necessary to bury so much for a tether? I hate “wasting “ so much dyneema. I’m sure it has to do with strength of the loop but seems overkill to bury the full length of the tether
@toddw9518
@toddw9518 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerry, this might be an ignorant question but.....does fully buried amsteel(dyneema) strengthen the rope. I.E. if 3/16 fully buried THEN make eye loops. Will this increase its load strength???
@jerrygrose468
@jerrygrose468 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Todd. I would say no, since the eye is not fully buried. The purpose of the full bury is to increase the diameter of the rope, allowing for the same diameter rope ( without the bury) to be used as a friction hitch. It also stiffens the amsteel.
