Hey guys, I gotta update you on my divorce. So after I showed this video to my SO, she said SHE WOULD FORGIVE ME! All I needed to do is read Forth Wing

Just realized something guys. This isn't related to the topic of the video. But did Rich ever think about swapping the Wheel of Time books to his side of the book shelves so it's on his side and not Austin's 😂

Endings have become pretty scarce in the age of endless sequels and reboots, and even though Scadrial is far from done in the grand scope of the Cosmere, era 1’s ending is so clean one couldn’t ask for more. *Hero of Ages Spoilers* That said, part of me hopes we’ll see Vin and Elend again far, far down the road when the cosmere comes to an end.

Definitely feel like book 4 of Wax and Wayne stands on it's own compared to the other 3. I recommend doing it as Sanderson did: do the first three in one review, then take a hiatus, gather your thoughts, and then hit book 4 and Secret History as a seperate review to wrap up Era 2.

Hmmmm book 3 would take up a lot of discussion tho and Book 1 and 2 make a very good story arc together. I would definitely do a separate review for book 3.

To clarify the "taking of a Shard" discussion: the person has to be conected to the Shard, as in the general intent of the person has to match that of the Shard. I belive Sazed mentions on an epigraph that Preservativon had to prepare Vin through her childhood in order for her to be able to take the Power.

Leaving off at the spoiler warning, as this is the next Mistborn on my TBR. But glad to hear that you guys loved it. I read book 2 in five days (and I'm a slow reader, it would normally take me about 10 days).

Book by book on era 2 please! I enjoyed era 2 alot. Era 1 and era 2 are great in their own ways. It still impresses me that Brandon Sanderson managed to write era 2 as well as he did, knowing it had to follow the amazing story of era 1. To avoid spoilers, please read Secret History after era 2 for the "complete" experience. I love you guys' videos, thank you guys so much

Rich you are spot on the theme of this book being balance and Harmony. Can't wait for you to reflect on this once you guys read Era 2. Definitely do it book by book, not as a whole. They are all pretty distinct with different central themes for each. 👍 keep up the great reviews guys!

You really have to read Mistborn Secret History next! You can read it before Era 2, and I guess you have other reads after Hero of Ages and before Alloy of Law, so it´s worth your time have read Secret History first than that

@@ernestorodriguez5117 I mean it's a big/pretty cool reveal in BoM, plus when we read SH in Arcanum Unbounded it comes with the spoiler warning by Sanderson. I got spoiled on it by reading a wiki (never again), so I'd prefer if others had a spoiler free experience. Ultimately, the book is more than the reveal, it wouldn't be ruined by the spoiler, but it's more fun to be surprised.

Yesssss I knew you would like this one. All three Mistborn books are close together with favorites in my opinion, but it blew me away. SPOILERS: The whole connections with Hemalurgy and everything, how everything works, it was just so good. And Spook's side plot was SO good. And that scene when all of the mists in the whole world flowed to Vin was SO EPIC. But the ending was bittersweet for me, but wow it made so many awesome connections!

I would like it to be known that I enjoyed this video so much I listened to it on normal speed. While Stormlight is magnificent, Mistborn still holds my heart. It is one of the few series I always want to relisten to. The way it is plotted out like a mystery through the entire trilogy is SO SATISFYING. Even knowing the twists and reveals I still get a little thrill of joy as I watch the characters navigate the mysteries before them. It’s like watching a timelapse of a puzzle click into place. And the ending is in my top 3 fantasy book endings (the other two being LOTR and Chronicles of Prydain). Thanks as always for a great discussion!🔥

Spook's plotline made this book for me. Spoiler ahead: The way Brandon had me believing Kelsier was somehow back because how else could spook have miraculously gained pewter burning... I was so excited, but confused, but cautiously expecting it to be a trick somehow. Finding out it was all a deception was amazing, but left me still a little disappointed the man himself wasn't living on. But then comes the best part of the whole trilogy for me. When Spook is giving up and deciding he was never as important as the rest of the crew because Kelsier never trusted him with an important task of his own, out of the blue, without any reason, or explanation, you get a voice in his head. "I named you, Spook. You were my friend. Isn't that enough?" Absolute magic.

Era 2 isn't bad at all the issue people have is mostly that they think they'll get more of Era 1, which isn't about it at all. Era 2 is more personal stuff, smaller scales but very fun adventure books with some of the Cosmere's best moment and characters.

Spoiler for Hero of Ages: I like that your discussion reflected on religion, and the trinity. In Christianity, God became a man in the person of Jesus. In the Mistborn story, a man became a god (or a shard, I guess?)

Interestingly, while Sanderson is clearly an incredible plotter and storyteller, there's something about his style that I just can't buy into. With Joe Abercrombie, conversely, I'm fully cognisant of his contentions with the plot side of things but his prose and characters make him inimitable for me.
