It’s nice that Dark Elves are no longer just servants of Darth Malekith. They have their own goals and leaders, outside of an overarching hierarchy.

That is why I think they are the legacy of Malerion. They lurk in the shadows, play nice with sigmarites but have their own agenda, they enjoy cruelty still, and I would wager the executioners are now Malerion worshipers instead of Kaine. More butchers than murderers.

I really think all the dark aelf units from Cities are super cool, but it makes me wonder where these extra aelf factions come from. Because the stand alone Aelf factions were created by the Aelven gods, but how did Alarielle get Wanderer followers during the Age of Myth? She didn't know Slaanesh was captured, and obviously only cares about her Sylvaneth. I can see Darkling Covens as a splinter from Daughters. Like a Witch who stops believing in their cult, and decides to do her own thing; but that doesn't explain where Order Serpentis, or Corsairs originate from. I guess what I would love a video on Doug, is where do these extra Aelves come from, and what god do they serve?

Thank you, I'm working on a combined aelven army, high elves, dark elves and wood elves. Loving the lore. :)

I was thinking to myself, how in the Mortal Realms did they survive Sigmar's purge, but you explained it very well. Organised crime and shady businesses are things that exist. But what I would like to know is, do these dark aelves have an inherited predisposition to dark deeds, or if it is something they learn and adopt as normal aelf behaviour from childhood.
@gwell21184 жыл бұрын
Well technically Dark Aelves don't actually exist anymore, there just Aelves. They aren't a sub-race but more just regular alves that have a more shady profession. So for example a Swifthawk agent aelf could change his profession and become a scourge privateer. And in tern the scourge privateers have no more greater connection with the darkling covens than they do with swifthawk agents or pheonix temple. As they aren't technically the same factions as the last setting so there is no more direct connection with them. Really he just refers to them as dark aelves y for people who were more familiar with last setting would easier recognize what he means. But no, there is sub-species of aelves that are more evil than others. There just a particular group of aelves lower in morals.] than some others.

@@gwell2118 Dark elves weren't a sub species before either they just had differrent cultures than the high and wood elves.

Thank you! Really enjoy your videos as I paint. Long time Dark Elf fan, I can't wait to hear about the Anvilguard, Scourge Privateers Shadowblades, or The Order Serphentis.

The bulk of my cities army is darkling covens and filled out with order serpentis and shadowblades. I've pretty much worked up my own lore and city using Anvilgard rules of course. A lot of fun to play.Thanks for the video.

Excellent work on this one! They are my second favorite City Aelves. They are so great for narratives and appeal to the inner edge-lord in us all.

Cool upload, always wanted more info on the Darkling Covens, I’ve been dreaming up a Cities of Sigmar army that’s a Freeguild/Coven mashup to represent a shady, pirate city in like a swampland in Shyish or something.

Love your lore videos Doug! Always listen to them while I'm cooking, painting or just to relax a bit after a stressfull day. What I wanted to ask you for a bit now is, what software do you use for your videos? I would like to start a AoS-Channel of my own in my native language but I have no idea how to get started. 😅 Keep up the great work, you are one of my most favorite content creators out there and also a big idol for me as well. 😊

Are Darkling Covens even still in AOS as a fieldable army apart from the free warscrolls they put out years ago? I ask with genuine intent not to troll, I just searched them on GW's website and they don't appear anywhere. It's a shame, I have a WFB Dark Elves army in storage but I found they didn't do too well when up against a proper AoS army on the tabletop.

They are part of the overall Cities of Sigmar faction, but the Darkling Coven keyword still exists and you can play a pure Darkling Coven army when using the CoS battletome.

Great video! I have been watching a ton of your content to learn about the AoS universe. The past month I have been trying to decide on an army to build. I have never actually played AoS but the lore really has gotten me interested as it appeals to my D&D root. Har Kuron is what I have decided on and I will be running a lot of Darkling Coven. Do you have any suggested reading? I have the Cities of Sigmar Battletome and the Broken Realms Morathi book is on the way. I am not looking for more rules but the actual lore behind Drusa Kraeth, the Darkling Coven, and Anvilguard/Har Kuron. Thanks again for the great content!
