I have to say the Directorate are definitely my favorite of the subfactions from the Spire, because as pragmatic scientists it definitely feels like they see the Soverign Lineage's plans to retake their homeworld as delusions. They dont have the stubborn will of Soverign to assemble a fleet to retake their world, because they're perfectly content playing into his fantasy until they get to keep Eä to themselves after he leaves. I just love that idea they put up with his nonsense until he goes on a suicide mission to retake homeworld and they can finally run the place without his meddling.

One thing I loved about painting the Spires, and the Pheromancer in particular, is how much more awful they become the closer you look. For example: the headgear the Pheromancer wears isn't a wizard's hat. It isn't even a helmet. It's a chem-chimney. Which made me think about the miasma which the Spires project around themselves, the sorcerous mist which slowly terraforms their surroundings into something more to the Directorate's liking, which "eats your thoughts, makes you forget the way back home and, in time, your friends, your loved ones and your name itself, until you are a husk for the Spirelords to play with" and it made me realise: a Pheromancer is a Spire, writ small.

Normally I don't really go for an outright evil faction, but the Spires are just such awesome models that I couldn't help myself. I've gone pretty deeply into the Avatara faction, and look forward to fielding my first 2000 point game soon enough!

Hey, thanks for showing me Conquest. At first I was sceptical but after your unboxing video of the Wadhrun. I fell in love with them. I got myself the Warband box and the Starter box using your code. I second the 100k because I always like Men who struggle against immense odds. I think Ill paint the 100k as the Band of the Hawk due to the abrupt passing of Kentaro Miura. Please do the Wadhrun next. Theyre so awesome looking and I would like to know more about my main Force :D

I really love the sound of the underspire, I'm getting into this over AOS with my wife, and I'd love to convert some namarti into clone soldiers, to show that my warband leader is sort of a populist revolutionary, trying to improve the standard of living of the lower castes.

Supposing that they were really escaping from an horror that they can't described and closing the door behind them make me wonder how much terrifying it was since they are nightmarish themselves. We don't fully understand visually what units/models and artwork of the Spires is making them a mistery of undescribable terror. Whatever fate awaits you, whatever the truth lies behind of it all, decomposition and recomposition of your biomass into the devilish mass of the Spires is an idea frightening enough to hook me into the faction :)

I have the same thoughts about this game as I do every indie non skirmish wargame. It looks really cool, it’s gonna really suck when it’s basically dead in about 2 years because it’s not a GW game.

Conquest is both skirmish and rank and file using the same miniatures. Also Para Bellum apart from already operating for 3 years they have shown that they are here for the long term.
