NOW you are speaking my language, in 1982 when these first came out, I was 21 I couldn't justify having a 3 wheeler and having to have a truck to haul it around. I took a friend to the Kawasaki dealership and there set a KLT 200 with turn signals and rearview mirror. STREET LEGAL? I bought it the next day. I was one of 2 people to buy one and tag it in Kansas. It was my only vehicle for about 2 years, I loved it. 20 years later I started collecting them, I had 10 at one time various sizes and years.

Wow, didn't know they made a 250. We have the klt 110 and 185. (And a Honda 200) Managed to keep them going for the last 15 years. Parts are out there but, not everything. I prefer the original carbs too but, after rebuilding the 110's several times, a 20.00 aftermarket fixed the problem. Starts first or second pull and runs great. Keep an eye on those rear mud flaps. They get brittle and break from all the bouncing around. You have one good one. Take it off and make a pattern, holes and all. Save it. We cut them out of semi mud flaps. Fits either side. Works well and lasts a long time. You'll wear a LOT of mud if run without them. Trust me. Good luck. They're a blast.

The reason the pump keeps running is because there’s no fuel in the tank to pull up to the carburetor when it builds up pressure it shuts off.

kawasaki 21119-1193 looked it up on babbitts on line it also lists where used in all models using this part. Knock offs very cheap on eBay, might be worth a shot to get a cheap part with quick shipping and scrounge up the oem part from an early 300 bayou later on. My experience with Kawis has been bad voltage regulators fry cdi boxes more then most other brands. Good luck.

Mine is still thumping away after 41 years of service with over eight thousand miles. Rotor to start clutch became loose and noisy. Welded perimeter of joint surface and bolts ( wobbled out ) the magnet system had become cracked and unserviceable part long since unavailable. Found another engine manufacturer with somewhat similar magnets for purchase. Different diameter and lengths and number ( four not three ) cut and sanded to fit and epoxied in rotor cup. Hundreds of miles ago and is running / charging fine. Also sourced a used replacement head as my valves and seats were getting pretty worn from over heating of oil. Used to pull drag and it wasn’t getting adequate cooling. Since putting on a after market oil cooler by headlight it stays cooler and a bit more oil capacity.

The ignition key switch used to stick up between the rider and the handlebars facing upwards and that toggle switch was some p os idea of a replacement for the key switch... Saved a whopping 25 bux when or maybe it was stolen at some time in it's past.. You can build a new cdi for it pretty cheaply if you have soldering skills or maybe source a used one off fleaBay or the Kawi atc forums... Videos in yt on making a cdi... That speedo and plastic tank are probably worth what you paid for the entire machine as they're both kinda scarce in working condition.. The 250 Kawi was a blast to ride as it was basically a 250 enduro with a pair of rear tires and a manual clutch is way more fun than any auto...

These have a locking differential for use on pavement or golf cores, some had a knob you turn on the center of one of the rear hubs the early ones you had to go into that plastic plate you snapped on the rear axle and remove a round disk.

you could look into making a homemade CDI box, Harvey spooner has many of them and shows a video on what you'll need. I use them for ATV's that i work on as a quick "will it run or not" Their pretty inexpensive aswell. you can try searching "Harvey spooner homemade CDI" Nice vid!

Looks like your keyed ignition is missing, the KLT's were the first 3 wheelers to put on a keyed ignition AND electric start. the early ones had a kick start mounted under the seat and a rubber cap over the splined post to kick start incase of a dead or low battery. Top speed on a 200cc was only 45 mph . I changed my sprockets from 11 tooth on front to a 13 and from a 48 on back to a 40. can you imagine going 60 MPH down the highway. I did that with my sister on back! LOL

You can find a cheap cdi box for one of those chinese scooters for about 10 bucks they mostly all work the same. There are two kinds ,ones that energize from a 12 volt source or one that energizes from the stator the pretty much all wire up the same
