Joe, I've made a lot of comments in the past and I've made a lot today on this video. But the most important one is, like we've told you before, when it comes to these old watercraft it goes like this… Engine start then water on then water off and engine stop. You need to get an online diagram and look at how the cooling system works. If you keep turning the hose on and just letting it feed the ski indefinitely without the engine running, you are going to Hydro-lock the Motor. Please take my word for this. Watercraft used to be my entire reason for existing. Engine on water on then water off engine off. Please.

I dont know much about PWCs.. so I thought.. "Huh, that cant be right? How could it enter from the cooling jackets without any gaskets being bad? But he should know what hes talking about"... But then I thought about it...I guess it must enter the cylinders via the watercooled exhaust, then?
@Allthingsdirtbike
@Allthingsdirtbike 5 ай бұрын
@GoldenCroc water enters from the impeller to the bottom of the exhaust manifold when your in the lake, when you run the ski on a water hose with the ski off it will enter threw the exhaust manifold into the cylinders hydro locking it , you'll have bent piston Rods real quick
@GoldenCroc
@GoldenCroc 5 ай бұрын
@@Allthingsdirtbike Yep, exactly as I thought then. But is there really much risk of bending rods in an engine thats shut off? I would have thought the starter would refuse to turn it over long before any rods are deformed.

I had a tigershark just like this, I think mine was a 3 seater, my footwells were purple and the bottom of the boat was white, same cooler in thr front. It was kind of tired after a couple years of use, I bought new pistons and rings, honed the cylinders and it ran like a top for 5 more years, I ended up selling it , I had a spedo, top speed was about 38 mph according to the speedo, you could go wide open and cut the handle bars all the way, and it would just slide into a doughnut, it was a riot. I bought a 2001 sea doo XP 130 hp, that was a rocket ship next to the tigershark, but it didn`t slide, you could flip it and at 60 mph it wasn`t no joke, the XP was crazy fast, but the tigershark was funner spining and sliding around, brings back memories. You have a little beilge pump in the bottom just like mine.

The problem with any case reed induction 2 stroke PWC engine is moisture ir water in the crank case. So the rod bearings and crank will rust. The key to a long life of these engines it’s a must that they are ran after removed from the water and get all the water out of the engine and exhaust. It’s also a must that any watercraft is winterized with a fogger. Otherwise you run the chance of bottom end rust. Once the bottom end is rusted the bearings won’t last long and the watercraft is junk because of cost to repair.

Get yourself a little borescope that hooks up to your iPhone so you can start showing us the insides of cylinders through the spark plug holes (and you can start reading piston wash) and inside the reed cage through the carburetor mount. We would all love that… you should've had one for years now. They're wonderful for looking down the spark plug holes and reading piston wash and checking out the cylinder walls. Thank you very much.

They got one and they were revving the engine and a mouse got blown out of the exhaust pipe and the funny thing about it was it wasn’t dead. It was still alive. They were able to catch it and let it go lol. Sincerely Chuck.

I know it's a little rough, but on that carb those 2 screws that did NOT want to come out, I would have tried the impact (manual) driver.. the one you use a hammer on and it impacts and turns it with each hit.. I use that to get the screws off of rotors on some brakes on foreign cars (that I've seen at least) the screws are never stainless and they rust and corrode to the rotor and the hub, and man that impact screwdriver does a job on them, bangs them out with ONE hit usually! Not sure if that's a little violent for a carb.. but it's a good tool to keep close by!

Your jet pump sounds bad and just like mine did before it blew out, rebuild it and you not regret it. Trust me please. Bearings are hard to fine I know. Rear crank seal is bad also because I noticed that the hull was dirty and oily. This comes from vibrations from a bad jet pump over time.
