A one-night stand while you're separated is understandable. Pursuing a relationship with an intern is unprofessional for a reason. Pursuing a relationship without telling the person you're with that you're married is dishonest. Trying to keep the door open while you're trying to fix your marriage, and while the object of your affections is dating someone else, and while they're your superior at work is all kinds of messed up.

The writers already set up Derek and Meredith to be together from the start, even though Derek was married. Fact: people fallen in love with other people they are not married too all the time, that’s why divorces happen ( although there are other grounds for legal separation other than adultery ) - some people just drift apart and in the case of Addison and Derek, they were just treading water. They cared about each other sure, but, they didn’t love or were in love with each other anymore.

Derek was in love with merideth and told Addison that he had fallen in love with her , and Addison was needy woman from the start , if you have a problem in your marriage you stop and talk to each other she should have told Derek I’m feeling lonely and neglected we have so much time building our careers that we’ve lost sight of us so let’s stop and take time to reconnect that’s what you do not cheat with your husband /wife’s best friend you don’t do that , and Mark was really out there wrong to do that to the person that was like a brother to him that breaks lol the bro code . I’m not dying it was right but there are factorea here that was a snowball effect , I do feel sorry for Finn he was caught in the middle , but he had not gotten fully invested with merideth so that was a plus.
