Loving this!! I try to practice different copywriting skills every day & tomorrow my goal is to write a blog!! I read one of your latest emails where you shared a blog you wrote on graphic design and that made me realize writing blogs could be very fun for me & 100% doable. I’m currently narrowing down the types of copy I want to primarily focus on/provide for clients (emails being one of them- absolutely love!) and that email really changed my perspective on blogs! Thanks for the suggestions. I use Freshbooks to send my clients invoices. I recommend asking for 50% upfront so you always get paid for your work.

It might help but I don't think clients care that much about certifications. It's better if you can describe what you know about SEO and then add numbers- like "my client in X industry saw a 30% boost in traffic" or "my writing scored 100% on SEO analysis tools like Yoast."

Copywriters typically will have their portfolio publicly on their website. Not every single business will be okay with you having your work with them in your portfolio, and that’s okay. Otherwise, a client can agree in writing (sometimes directly within the contract) that you can use the project in your portfolio.

I take a screenshot of my copy and add that to my website. I then link out to the copy. You never want to duplicate your copy because that will hurt you and your client's SEO. I recommend choosing 3 - 5 of your best portfolio pieces to showcase on your website.

You can send cold emails to your ideal clients. So it's not about finding a job offer or a gig on a job board. As a freelance copywriter, you get to hand pick your clients. So you can search out clients that understand the value of good copy and are willing to pay what your writing is worth.

It's not so much which niche you pick, but it's really picking a niche that makes your business profitable. When you pick a niche, you become the expert in your field and your writing has more value.
