Also some other interesting facts. Using a CO2 Calculator this drive produced roughly 1.39T of C02. . A flight for two from the California coast to Wilmington would produce roughly 1.3T of C02. . A Private Jet from Cambria to Wilmington would produce roughly 22T of CO2 . We crossed 8 states over the drive. . Dates traveled were April 14th - April 28th . We were very lucky with weather, avoiding rain almost the entire trip. . The smoke you can see leaving the Grand Canyon was the very beginnings of the large New Mexico complex fire that is happening at the moment. . We were able to watch the sun rise over the ocean on the east coast and watch the sun set over the ocean on the west coast. . We decided to Timelapse west to east to avoid the sun being in the camera lens during the day.

In Europe, or Germany in particular, we would also add the CO2 footprint of going by train, which is probably a 10th of both car and plane, depending on how much of the railways are electrified. And it would also remove the stress of having to drive while letting you look out at the landscape. Too bad it's just much less flexible, even in Europe.

Hope you are all having a good weekend! This video is quite a bit different than anything else we have done but it’s just been a project we’ve been thinking about for a long time and we wanted to see if we could pull it off. Hopefully it’s kind of cool for people who haven’t traveled much within the US. It’s such a massive country and has so many beautiful spots along the way. It was a really fun trip and we hope you enjoy! We will be back to bike content again next week :)

We first drove across (most of) the country when we moved to Portland in 2015, and it blew our minds. It's hard to grasp the vastness of the US, and the west in particular, without driving or bicycle touring it in person. Great project, well done. I would've forgotten to turn on the camera by day three or something. 😄

As full time travelers who've traveled across this country... it's very interesting to watch the way the land changes as you drive. When we were kids it was an eternity but since we've been full timing on the road, the open spaces are getting smaller and seem to take less time to go through. I don't think this is because the countryside is filling up. I think it's just that we are more cognizant of how far things really are and we often wish the journey was longer. As they say, life is short - so the journey is all too often. Glad you did this video for those who've never had the opportunity. Oh and traveling in your "house" is a completely different experience than "moving across the country" or traveling by staying in motels. It's like a whole new world.

I also did I-90 from Syracuse, NY to Seattle, WA in 2019. Going back to hometown Binghamton, NY from Charleston, SC in 2 weeks and wanna do Albany to Boston in the near future to finish the 90! By the by, thanks for the cool MTB schtuff as well!

My son got married on New Year’s Day in 2015 in Cambria. I drove his civic back loaded with all his possessions to Summerville SC. One weekend we were looking at the pebble beach of the Pacific Ocean and the next weekend collecting sea shells at Folly Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. We drove through a blizzard in New Mexico but we got his car and goods to his new home. Would not want to do that ride again though. Thanks for the video !

Great travel video I just made it through California, it’s just as good as seeing April race the sea otter or April hitting that massive jump over you, I bought a brake rotor from jenson and it came with a picture of Aprils sky jump, this is great for pounding some beer and smoke I feel like I’m on the trip with you guys, amazing seeing the back country on a trip I could never do , the music is fun to , I hope you’re married to April because she is a cute keeper , almost into New Mexican might make this a two day video, great idea , you two are amazing , decided to pop one more cold one and push through New Mexico Texas and Oklahoma, man it’s flat and bear-in out there , on a 85” high def it looks like I’m seating in the passenger seat, feels like I’m a cross country trucker

The quality of this video is amazing. I've done a few long (2000+ miles) road trips, and I wish I would have been able to capture them like this. Without a video [or having done this yourself], it's tough to really understand the scale of this country--how you can be driving for hours at a time, all through the same-looking landscapes and with hardly anything around, and only travel a single state (while a flight would have got you across the whole country by then)... thank you for sharing!

Glad to see you guys did this. There is so, so much to this country, and even though a trip straight across gets you to see alot, there is SO much more to see. I remember driving east out of Yellowstone back in 1999 and seeing a lot of weird smoke or weird clouds in the mirrors, was the beginnings of a massive fire there too. As awful as they are, better to be on the leaving end of it. Your path gave you guys such an amazing cross section, literally, of the amazing variation across the country. Experience of a lifetime for sure! It's crazy how it can give you the bug to explore more, maybe regionally, but still. Even if it is a while until the next trip, don't let that bug to see more go away! Take care guys!

Thank you! It has been on our minds forever. My (Kyle’s) mom hasn’t been able to travel much throughout her life and I figured it would be cool for people like her to watch and experience what it looks like going across America :)

How fun! I watched it in several sittings. I recognize bunches of sections through the SW from Cambria. Used to go out to Cambria often when I lived in SoCal.

Thanks so much John! Yeah we used a gopro 10 on the dashboard, looking through the windshield. And used the hyper lapse feature. We had two cameras and kept switching them when they would overheat

OMG guys! That was the exact route that I took when I drove from the Bay Area to NC. I had done three times and I strongly encourage anybody to do it at least once in their lives. The drive from OK to NC is so beautiful! Texas not so much - felt like it was never ending! Are you guys permanently staying in NC for good? Unfortunately for me, I graduated from Duke and had to leave the beautiful state of NC. I was actually surprised how stunning Asheville and Wilmington were. Great content guys!
