Installation of the twin stick shifter from TBP. This is part #4105A. Not sure I put the bolts in right the second time but I'll get it right on my final assembly!

Nice looking pieces. Are you going to rebuild the D20? I got a kit for mine but haven't found much info on the process. Sure enjoy yours and Nashville's vids, just rewatched the one you two did together on 1" body lift.

Flyingmikey62 yes I am definitely going to rebuild the Dana 20. If I could just find time! I don’t want to rebuild it too early for fear of rust during storage. I suppose I can always spray it down with WD-40 to protect bearings and gears.

Will this allow a front dig. Or allow you to disengage the rear drive line and just run front wheel drive

You have to have a twin stick to do a front dig but in order to do that you need to take apart the shift rails and remove the interlock pill that keeps you from having front wheel drive.

Hello Matt, do you believe its possible to have a 5 speed floor shifter along with this twin dana shifter?

Rogelio Diaz I don’t know for sure but I know a lot of guys run the twin sticks with a floor shifter. Give the guys at Toms a call and they will know for sure if you give them the info on your specific tranny and vehicle (body lift and suspension)

Garlōs Montoyotana you must loom to see how the shifter works. If it is a cable or a lever that only has one hinge then you cannot. If the shifter has two rails that go into the transfer case, then you could make a custom shifter.

Hey Matt! I bought this kit for my 76 bronco it has a t18 4 speed and a Dana 20 that worked normal before install. For some reason my bronco will only drive in 2hi if my front hubs are locked in. Meaning only the front axle is spinning the rear is in neutral. If I disengage my hubs it won’t go into 2hi at all the bronco is in complete neutral. Do you have a guess as to Why my rear axle won’t engage?

Sorry Brock. That is beyond my knowledge. Your hubs should have nothing to do with the transfer case function but obviously something about the gears being locked in is making the t-case go into gear easier. Very very weird.

@@brockarmstrong9896 spoiler alert. I sold the bronco to Mile 3 garage. I do have a twin stick on my Scout Dana 20 I think they are the same. Left is rear, right is front. So 2 hi is left stick all the way back (away from engine), right stick in neutral (in the middle).

Can u explain to me why u have 2 shifters os one for the transmission?

Hi Brian, no the transmission shifter is on the column. It's hard to describe how the mechanism works but there are two rails on the Dana 20 transfer case. One rail controls the front output and one controls the rear. In stock set-up the rails have a plate at one end that overlaps so the single J-shifter operates both rails at the same time. When you do an AOD-E swap, it takes some work to make the stock shifter work. I preferred to go with the twin stick because it's easier. But hard core off-roaders get the twin stick because you can do things like a front dig where you throw the rear rail in neutral and keep the front axle in gear. When you do that you can execute a much tighter turn off-road. I don't need that for my build I was just looking for the best solution for my application and the twin-stick is by far the easiest.
