How did you remove the door hinge roller pins (Dorman Part No. 38433)? Mine were stamped into position. Do you need to use an oscillating tool to shear off the top of the pins?

You can use that cloys timing chain its better honestly as its a double roller. But it has different positions so you can degree your cam. Thats why it has 3 positons. its for advancing, 0 and retarding the cam relative to the crank.

Can you share which AFR heads you chose along with the cam? I was looking at the AFR165's with a Comp cams CL35-349-8 cam kit.
@MattsGarage6 күн бұрын
I tried to get that cam kit from summit but it was backordered so they split it into CCA-35-349-8 and CCA-851-16 which they had in strock. The AFR part # was AFR-1351 the 185cc heads. Pushrods were TFS-21406500. So far it's been a great combo.

Matt, I’ve been a long time follower. My 1974 restoration was concurrent with your first Bronco series and is still ongoing. I ended up going with the Pro-Flow 4 as well after needing all the ignition and fuel system components replaced. It fired on the first attempt w/zero issues. Great system, can’t wait to get the last of my C4 transmission issues fixed and get her on the road. Keep up the great work!

@@Flyingmikey62 I never did. Probably should though. I got the 10k asymmetrical extra wide and tall but would not recommend that. Get the regular 10k extra wide and tall. Sure it makes opening the doors a little more effort but the flexibility of loading in either direction is superior. I bought directly from Bendpak and used their recommended installer in my area.

@@Flyingmikey62 oh and I would not use the electrical cable they use. Just buy a longer 3x14 gauge wire. The one they supply is too short and ended up shorting out on one of my pistons. With a longer cable you can tuck it up high in the corner of the post out of the way.

That is so cool. I've really enjoyed following along on your EFI installation. I've purchased the Sniper 2 for my Bronco project, as well as their distributor with timing control. It will be interesting to see if it installs as smoothly as yours. I'm very pleased that your Bronco is back on the road and running so well. Time to get the top on and have some winter fun. @MattsGarage26 күн бұрын
@@ronbelldvm the sniper 2 is arguably a much easier installation if you already have a 4barrel manifold, which I know you do. It’ll work great. Probably a tiny bit less snappy than the pro flo but it’s also a lot simpler with fewer moving parts and better hood clearance. Everything is a compromise!

Nice car. Be sure to keep a fire extinguisher in it. Holley floats love to stick and burn your car up. Check into it. You see them a lot for racing but they always have a fire extinguisher. I've seen several go up in flames in street cars in my 64 years. Once the fuel reaches the distributor or plug wires your driving a motorized "go-devil"! I run 3.5 wild horses pack and pulled the very bottom little helper leaf out, helped a little. Honestly what helped the most was driving it and just cycling it. Add some weight to the back like 100ish lbs and drive it around for a little while. If your springs are "original" cant speak to that but would probably buy newer tech multipack springs. Deaver and/or Duff is probably the best from what ive heard. Wild horses has been great to deal with and springs are good but they squatted more than i would have thought over daily driving for 2yrs.

Make sure your leafs were installed in the correct direction. If they are backwards it will ride very stiff (ask me how I know 😂). If the direction is correct, I would take the bottom leaf off and see if it improves. Then progress to the 2 bottom leafs. Other than that, it’s a very short wheel base and is never going to be great.
@jonjacobsen6339Ай бұрын
Also, I have a 3.5” duffs lift and removed the bottom leaf to help.
@MattsGarageАй бұрын
Interesting. I never took the shackles off during the restoration so if it was backwards, then it was always backwards since I’ve had it. Is there an easy way to tell? I know it will never be great, but this is out of hand.
@jonjacobsen6339Ай бұрын
@ when I originally installed my duff leafs I installed them (front to back) in the same way as the factory. I assumed the military wrap would be on the same end, but they were not. It was VERY firm. Once I figured it out I reversed the direction of the leafs and they were much better. I would check with Tom’s to confirm the correct direction for your springs. To soften the ride a little more I experimented with removing the bottom 2 leafs and settled on removing just the bottom leaf. I also have a steel rear bumper and 35” tire which helps soften the ride due to the additional weight
@jonjacobsen6339Ай бұрын
@ I checked my leafs. The military wrap should be toward the front of the bronco
@MattsGarageАй бұрын
So now I'm getting deep into this. Aftermarket vs stock is different apparently. On stock springs, Ford didn't have a double wrap. The mid-eye side goes to the front is what I'm seeing on one forum post. Apparently when there is a double wrap, it always goes to the front. I'm not 100% confident in this, I need to keep researching.
@leomd123Ай бұрын
Very nice...EFI is the way to go. Once you get it installed it would be super interesting to see it compared directly to a bronco with the Sniper 2. I wonder specifically if the port Injection vs throttle body makes any noticeable difference. R/e the rear leafs, I think they all buck because they are designed for a certain amount of weight. Not sure about removing a leaf...you may end up with a Carolina squat 😂
@MattsGarageАй бұрын
@@leomd123 I am also curious. I’ll have to find someone up here with a sniper. I don’t know about a Carolina squat. I can always put in a quarter inch spacer or something to make up for the leaf spring thickness. I need to do something because it’s just not good.

New subscriber.🔥🔥🔥 ok I understand the SWITCHED POWER, but how can I also run a relay with CONSTANT POWER? Meaning hot at all times? I’m doing a LS swap and would want my ECM and OBD II hot at all times, but I want my injectors, fans, and fuel pump on switch power. Thank you bro any help would be greatly appreciated.
@MattsGarageАй бұрын
Welcome! I would just run your ECM through a fuse directly to the battery. The amp draw is so little, it doesn't make sense to use a relay. You should only use a relay if you need a) a lot of power or b) more control of how power gets to where or c) some thing to talk to another thing. For the fuel pump and fan, it's the right choice.
