3/4 & 6/8 Rhythms | Strumming Patterns

Garret's Guitar Lessons
Strumming in 3/4 has the same basic principles has in 4/4, strum down on the numbers (1 2 3) and up on the and's (+'s)! For 6/8, just double 'em and you'll be good. The way I number them (Rhythm 1, Rhythm 2, etc.) are just a way to ensure we're talking about the same strumming pattern. Be sure to keep the numbers consistent!

Ha, yes I know I don't go through any real world examples of them being used in this video. My channel typically consists of "here's this concept" then songs that use that concept. So I'll be going through some 3/4 or 6/8 songs here shortly. There are some pretty great lists on google of songs in 3/4 and be sure to try any of these rhythms along with it. This is a great lesson. Would this rhythm lesson work with blues type chords along with blues type chord progressions?

Yes! Especially something in 3/4... say "All Blues". Pop/Rock blues in 3 as well! If you're feeling it you can turn each pattern into a 12/8 sort of thing, but that'd take some sub dividing.. you can do it! :) Cheers! Oh... and don't forget to grab the free PDF over at: garretsguitarlessons.com
