I heard the Bud Wilkinson 5-2 did have DE's detach and play like an overhang LB, but they were still just called Defensive Ends.

They did some yes, he made some changes because of the college game

Just did a deep dive into the 46 defense. I think I’m gonna back to the future.

Dick LeBeau with the Steelers played his ends in the 4I as disrupters and penetrators.

Interesting video and evolution is something I need to look at closer. We ended up having to make a lot of adjustments every week to our defense because we saw everything this past season; Spread, Inverted Wishbone, Power Pistol, Traditional I, Spread Wing T, etc. So I'm looking at creating some basic rules to get into different fronts for different offenses. Any simple suggestions?

3-4 stuff is pretty adjustable
@Steve-qy8or3 жыл бұрын
A symmetrical defense allows you to adjust to just about everything with minimal movement by your players while keeping your rules intact. Look up some of his older videos, there is a ton of adjustments on them.

I thought Greasy Neal had a MLB instead of a nose, and the OLB's were up in the c gap like the old ND split 4. Where did you find the fifty version? I never knew he had a nose.
@CoachMac3 жыл бұрын
I believe they would also use a Mike backer instead of nose and back him up at times. I think passing game stuff and offensive changes made him back the nose up to eventually become a MLB

We are an exclusive wide zone team and we are seeing a tite front on Friday against our biggest rival (both undefeated for a league title)? What do you think about pin and pull on the front side against the tite front?
@CoachMac3 жыл бұрын
People have been doing it to us, but if your kids are playing well I would keep doing what they know

Hi Coach Mac, I would like to hear your thoughts about a 4-3 personal tite front.
@CoachMac3 жыл бұрын
We do a little of it now but more 425 personnel

@@CoachMac That's fine with me. My Sam is a LB by name (so the player plays like one), but I handle him more like an extra Safety (especially when I look for the skillset I seek in that player) anyway. So I am still interessted in your thoughts about 4 man tite. ;)
