I was borderline harassed mid match! It’s so hard being a celeb. I just want to be a normal tennis player.

At 6:20 your analysis of your opponent’s serve is spot on. Everything you said is correct. It is a serve hit with a forehand grip, “forehand serve”. It is a weak version of a “pancake serve”, a serve that has lefty spin coming from a right hander and is produced by leading with the opposite edge of the racket than is usually employed. Most know it from the Simon Freund KZbin channel. The reason I’m pointing this out is that it shows that your more observant and technically knowledgeable than is reflected by your own game. Tennis wise mentally your not the klutz you often portray yourself to be. Ultimately your brain is what will advance your game. The low half lob you missed at 7:34 was a perfect opportunity to hit a “Midget Overhead”. It involves hitting a overhead with a deep knee bend even to the point of having your rear knee on the ground, basically a proposal stance. Usually if deep a slice overhead is employed for greater control. Of course you gotta practice it in a non match setting. Early prep is key. But it’s actually not hard to learn if you can hit a overhead already.

Nice job keeping the pace up! So easy to start pushing back when playing a pusher, way to keep swinging Longshanks

What forehand grip do you use? Looks super extreme towards spin and not power

It’s called a Hawaiian forehand (one bevel further than western) and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone. When I was learning tennis it developed accidentally, I didn’t choose it because I like spin or anything. I’m trying to get rid of it but it’s tough erasing the muscle memory

@@trashbintennis5550 Ya lwestern is trash for anyone but pros and thats even more extreme. Ya def hard to completely stop but you wont ever really make alot of progress with a very hard technique forehand to consistently make. I would bet an opponent would target that at higher levels and get it to breakdown. I play semi western but I think is best of both worlds.

I wouldn't call this a classic pusher. Just someone who needs some technique work. She did go for winners and hit out on a lot of balls. Nice job out there. 4.0 is definitely in the cards with some finishing shots and depth. Like the short angle finishes are great and work well for you, but it's when you went down the line that she got it back and often ended up winning the point.

Thanks man! Agreed, I wasn’t sure but also figured “pusher” would do better on KZbin 😅

You never tested her volleying? And attack 2nd serve down the line not hitting back to the middle of the court. I've played my cousin for 15 yrs very similar to a pusher, but has very good serve. Good play way to tough it out!

Shanksalot looking more like Rick Steves day by day. Did both of you just break up with your girlfriends? What’s this vengence to take it out on the femme tennis gender? At least shanksamillion got a W. No karma was casted in this match.

Am I the only one that doesn't think your forehand and backhand are bad per se, you just need some more depth on them, especially in this match on the approach shot. There were many points where she drew you in with a short shot, you got the 'easy' approach shot, but she had so much time to lob you or pass you. I think a big part of that is the depth. If she was just a little rushed, I think you would have won 50% more of those points and there were a lot of them. You've got the good topspin on that forehand, just need a little more depth. Also, with your natural forehand stroke, and how much it dips down, you should be using angles more and pull your opponents off the court with slightly shorter angles (think to hit the window where the service line meets the sideline. Great job though and way to pull out the win. The celebration was warranted.

Thanks for the detailed analysis!! I've actually noticed that short window shot you're describing being very effective. Good point in the depth! I think where my FH breaks down is against an opponent who hits with a lot more pace (it causes my FH reliability to dip drastically). Against opponents at my level it gets the job done. thanks for the comment and watching the whole video!

@@trashbintennis5550 For sure, big fan of your videos. We're similar level, with similar weaknesses. I also have a decent serve, except my backhand is the liability so I know the struggle....and it is real. Anyway, good luck on matches this season and great videos both.
