Proud of you for posting this despite the frustrating day. We’ve all had matches like this, keep grinding!! This play style exposes a lot, lost to a UTR 6 junk baller yesterday, but it’s a great test of what you need to work on. I think this is a good reminder to work on your attacking forehand

Thanks bro! You’re totally right. It exposes all weak spots. My forehand has been MIA in 2023. Gotta work on it hard core.

I would definitely work on split stepping on returns and every time your opponent hits the ball. It help you be ready to move either direction and to be light and quick on your feet

Late into this, but for anyone having to deal with this same issue: Learn that not all short balls should be "put away". Many of them, probably even majority, especially those which are slow and low, are dangerously close to the net. You need to put them deep into the opponent's court, and make them struggle to return it, but with enough margin for you so your shot does not go out or net. This can be done with slice, push, or even topspin if you are comfortable (topspin being the riskiest for a low short ball). The next shot after is the putaway shot (usually a volley or overhead). I'm also learning this myself. Thanks for the video

@@trashbintennis5550late comment but long story short try to have a wide array of hitting partners with different styles will help in matches like this I have one junk baller hitting lot of slices drop shots don't play him often lol but it's really good practice if I ever play an actual junk baller

You need to hit freely through the ball; don't worry about spin.

Haahah I loved the end of the video, "Trash bin tennis and right now I am trash". I laughed out loud, also subscribed. Don't be too down on yourself, these players are tricky. Just ask yourself, what is just one thing I can improve on the next time I play someone like this? Work on that aspect a bit. Then keep improving whatever you feel is hurting you the most in each match. Slowly you will be turn from a "trash bin" to a titanium reinforced bank vault!! You can do it!

Do you happen to practice with a ball machine? I do, and that got me in a bad habit of hitting down the middle for some reason. Was wondering if that happened to you too

Been there so many times. Best learning tool is your worst loss. Pick that 1% that you could have done better and just work on that during the flex league. (Consistency is a good one. Or improving getting more 1st serves) see how your game and confidence change with small improvements.

Yes! It’s basically one more bevel from a western. It’s quirky but I can’t hit a forehand any other way. It developed while I was teaching myself via KZbin videos. I just kept putting more top spin on the ball because that was the only way I could keep it in. Thoughts?
@GershonBenYitzhak

@@trashbintennis5550 lol my though is that it is a terrible way to hit a forehand and puts a cap as to how much pace you can put on the ball. You can hit a LOT of topspin with a western forehand. There is a reason that there isn't a single pro that uses this grip. Like literally no one. Good luck hitting low balls too... And at the end of the day, your balls might be kind of spinny, but they are pretty slow. There is just really no benefit to it honestly. You've been playing for a while so it might be hard to change, but I would at least attempt to.

@@GershonBenYitzhak yep - I can’t hit a low ball to save my life. I end up forehand slicing those shots. My forehand speed is also indeed severely limited. I tried to change to a semi western last summer and it was miserable…probably too drastic of an adjustment. Thanks for the consult!
@GershonBenYitzhak
@GershonBenYitzhak Жыл бұрын
@@trashbintennis5550 yeah I hit western and I like it. I would suggest not trying to hit topspin at all. The western grip should help you generate topspin without thinking about it. I would focus on trying to hit through the ball with a western grip, the topspin should come automatically. Many people make the mistake about thinking too much about topspin and losing a lot of the driving power and hitting slow, high, and slightly spinny balls. As long as your racquet face is pointing down on your take back - you will have topspin without fail.

I know it looks stupid from the outside, but self hand feed yourself balls. It mimics this shot perfectly and you can practice getting in position and getting the ball back with depth and consistency.
