**Could have been great, but a bad interface.**
TL/DR: A great nightlight, and a basic white noise machine, but for some reason they decided to put the physical controls in an inaccessible spot, so to change anything you are going to need to pick it up, look for your button, make the change, then put it back down.
Pros:
o Pretty awesome light
o Nice selection of levels and colors for the light
Cons:
o Control buttons are not visible in the normal position on a bedside
o Timer LEDs are inexplicably on the back of the unit
o Sounds aren't grouped for easier access - might have to press 30 times to find yours
o No way to know where you are in the list of sounds
o Proprietary power cable for no good reason
o No battery operation
o Overloading the sound selection buttons to control light selection - don't force one button to do two things!
This white noise machine has something kind of cool going for it. Unlike a lot of the little hockey puck sized machines, it has a huge night light - a big plastic partial globe that's almost 7" across. If you are using things for a kid's nightlight, they may find that this is the best light you are going to see when searching on Amazon. At maximum brightness it's almost like keeping a lamp on.
But they really blew the user interface. The buttons that control the machine are all arrayed along the top of the machine, and you aren't going to be able to see them from the normal bedside position. Any time you want to make an adjustment, you're going to need to pick it up, look for the proper button, and then do your thing, then put it back down.
The timer function is even worse, because the LEDs displaying the selected time are on the back of the unit, so you have to pick it up, turn it around, then hit the timer button until you have selected the correct time, then put it back. Ugh!
The selection of sounds are the usual block of white/pink/brown noise, fan sounds, manmade machinery and transportation, nature sounds, and music. There's no ability to jump directly to a specific sound, nor any way to know where you are in the list of 30, so you have to hunt for what you like, potentially pushing the button 30 times. The good news is that the light remembers your settings, and I think in general you are probably not going to change them once you find something you like.
If you just love the look of the light on this thing, by all means go ahead and buy it. It's decent and if that's your thing, all the other shortcomings might be ones you can overlook.
But if you'd be satisfied with a more demure light that is easier to control, shop around, there are better choices than this guy.
