At 28 volts you can draw a continuous current of 30 Amps max. For that two diodes in parallel are enough I guess, each one diode can handle upto 30 Amps
@JJ-kf2uk2 жыл бұрын
Diodes don't really share current very well (look at their I/V curves). That's why emitter resistors are used to make power transistors share current. The only thing demonstrated here is the performance of one bridge with maybe some partial sharing from another. KBPC3510 bridge rectifier is rated @ 35A and 400A surge which wasn't exceeded by much in the video. I'm pretty sure (8) bridges are loafing. You need some R values to balance things up.

Make way more sense to: 1) Charge a $60 lead acid battery 2) With a small normal transformer-rectifier battery charger 3) Use either an inductive ammeter - or if you need extremely rapid current indication - a heavy shunt and measure the voltage drop across it with an oscilloscope.
@johnruscigno57382 жыл бұрын
Nice work. Now you just need some balancing resistors between each negative connection. I'd start with 1 ohm, 10 watt and check the temperature of each bridge after a couple minutes of operation and see how it goes. Might need to use 1.5 or 2 ohms.

Step down from 3000v 30 khz to 16v 30khz via ferrite core transformer. After that, use a bridge rectifier and a filter circuit to convert it to dc after that use any inverter with an output of 120v ac 60hz.

I am debating whether to change it into 2,000 volts and modify the circuit to use a microwave oven transformer. Interesting there was a guy who had a radio show that was in every country. He was a big HAM radio guy as well. From the Towers he had up in the midwest he got a constant 2,000 volts at 40khz. The electrical company collected and paid him for that electricity. The design will fail...Above the Vf drop of each diode, there are differences in the ESR of each rectifier diode which sees the diode with the lowest resistance carrying more current than the others causing heat & eventual failure a this heat compounds the cascade failure. This is why large power rectifiers use hockey puck or stud mount devices...

Mr Electron, you really have no idea about electronics design. Bridge rectifiers cannot simply be connected in parallel and assume the current will be shared equally between each of them. Even a small difference in their forward voltage drop due to manufacturing tolerances will result in uneven current sharing, causing one bridge rectifier to pass most of the current and eventually being destroyed. To do this correctly there must be equalizing resistors in place. Thats exactly the reason why this type of design is NEVER used to rectify high currents.
@chrisowen29252 жыл бұрын
If you follow how he soldered each of the banks using the same wire colors, but when he connected the banks together it was a crapshoot for what color was connected to other colors... I am not sure why you would randomly connect red and yellow coded wires together in such a circuit you easily could connect an AC to a DC using that random color choice method as the video looks to show. I would even have used white and yellow exclusively for AC saving my black and red for DC polarity.... I Can not determine by the video why one would connect it as he did....It works but a) for how long b) random wire connections like that are dangerous for a follow-up person to use this device and think that the red positive is only DC, not AC as it looked like it was used in the video. I think he has only 220 where he is but AC and DC are different and should be coded and treated differently.
No, you cannot put diodes in parallel for higher current. doesn't work like that..

"It can't be plugged into the wall." Stand alone things are the things we need to make. "Do you understand?"
@chrisowen29252 жыл бұрын
You need a BALANCED set of rectifiers. Nearly impossible to have with a random drawer of these as each one can be slightly different brand new. So it is a matter of how long until it burns out. I built a charger for my battery in my truck that runs all the extra gear, its a very large battery and needs to charge at night to service all day long, I looked into using multiple rectifiers but found out it was easier to buy a single large one then bridge them into a bank this way. It will fail eventually under continuous use unless you add parts to balance it out, something I was not interested in doing. To the "Do you Understand ?" comment, I find many things he builds to NOT be something I want or need but find them interesting to watch for ideas. He is not building YOUR projects he is building something for himself and sharing them for others to see and try if possible. Some are battery/portable and others are connected by a line to the wall so maybe you can make a video combining both worlds. I would like to build a controlled shorted element, air displacement device that would run from 12Vdc, The element I chose I think is to large to do what I want, so I am watching to see if one of his videos might lend a clue to my project. Maybe he could even respond to an email I sent to him also if he has time. Oh by the way I am looking to build a heater for my truck but want something that can produce more than 300W of heat since that is the max I can find built ready to go at stores. I am thinking of a 1000W design. I will trip over the solution sometime. Do you Understand? Had to use your comment there.
