Not only that, but the thing about gateway is that people who want to keep high all the time, or go numb, and so on, usually have some heavy trauma or are trying to escape reality altogether. Thing is, heavy drugs are not cheap, weed itself is kinda expensive and the stronger stuff is exponentially more expensive. It's only after the person in that self-destructive spiral is out of money that drugs like crack start to be appealing to them - rather, it's because it's all they can get.

I caught white racist setting up spy speakers on cars and around houses even breaking and entering and putting it in side houses and slinging pebbles at cars and to make the illusion exist that someone was hearing voices and hearing sounds. So maybe it’s the more you smoke the more you are likely to be targeted by a white racist extremist group that pays each other to shadow smokers around and harass them making them think that their experience is psychosis yet it’s literally weaponized trauma.. they then get people on anti psychotic drugs which shortens life, and these racist have fuck at the new take-able missing time, then they use they’re young as a mind that’s forced, saying they’ve justified there existence impossibly when you hear them through the whatever method they set up to create the illusion, they have females that participate as well and they can be cruel, seductive and the most spiteful, you could even end up having sex (purposefully seduced) with someone who then has you harassed and you become to think you are psychotic, their network of organization is massive, so unbelievably large, that people won’t believe. They’ll even move houses next door or on your street to make sure their harassment can’t be lapsed. So long story short secret racist torture people secretly, stoners are likely in and of the group of people that are most likely to be targeted by these secret racist, being friends and help of minorities if not the minorities themselves . Psychosis appears in hospitals as victims cannot tell the difference. This type of thing has evenly been going on in the black community for literally decades.

I live in a US jurisdiction in which recreational marijuana is fully legal for adults over 21 years old, and medical use is legal for adults over 18. @@angelachen6123 Because at least in America, and many other modern Western countries, drug prohibition does not actually decrease usage or availability of a given drug substance. It just doesn't. Simple as that. It's literally easier for minors here to get marijuana than it is for them to get even alcohol or tobacco products. Been like that for decades. It's just already well understood and recognized by now that marijuana is going to be everywhere in American society no matter what the law says. So it's not even fundamentally about "the benefits" or how good or bad it is either. It can be the worst drug on earth but that still doesn't mean prohibition will actually mitigate or temper this. Most people might have also missed the conclusion in the video, which says that legalization and regulation of marijuana might be the best thing to do.

All I have to say is, many of my colleagues who are psychiatrists and psychologists have a very different take on this than the pot-smokers on the internet. I think more people who aren't potheads would be willing to legalise drugs IF by using any drug for any long term period that we are absolved from having to pay for your healthcare and welfare.

Smalde the Portugal this really isn’t that surprising. It’s the equivalent of making murder legal and claiming 0% of homicide rate. If the people are getting drugs in a safe environment, they will not die from overdose but they will not stop either. So really, it’s more about stopping the death toll rather than addressing the issue of drugs. Like giving everyone mental check up while still allowing anyone to buy guns.

Yeah safe environment, this is very important to eradicate the problem, where only addicts get a free shoot, we had those here in Amsterdam from mid 80's till now, as we had a big opioid problem in the city. Now the places are closing cuz there are no opioid addicts anymore. Heroin/opiod abuse is basically gone in the Netherlands.
@kacitobin46006 жыл бұрын
Was just about to say this! If anyone is interested in an extremely in-depth analysis of one type of addiction (heroin addiction), Righteous Dopefiend is a great read. The work follows a group of heroin users for over 10 years--and finds that, unsurprisingly, most of their daily lives focuses on relieving their (sometimes lethal) withdrawal pain. In short, the addicts must funnel much of their time and resources into getting their next fix. In Switzerland in the 90s, however, addicts were given time to seek legal employment, housing, and overall stability in their lives allowing them to focus on treating their addiction. I think it's important to remember that nobody really wants to be addicted. To anything. If we give addicts the resources to overcome addiction, they... do just that. Who knew, right? Just thought I'd put this here for anyone interested in doing some further research!

Weed is a gateway drug only in countries where weed is criminalized. This is because you have to get into an illegal drug circuit to access your weed - the same circuit where hard drugs are floated. By making weed legal, you create a hard barrier where people don't have to get into that illegal drug-circuit, making it much much much less likely for a person to make that transition. Seems like logical reasoning to me...

Pure logic does not really apply in these situations. Why do people do drug? Why do people smoke? Why do people do so many hurtful and harmful things? It is not logic at all, it is even counter productive, yet we not only do that, we also endure. So, back into to the topic, logic does not matter; people often starts doing something like smoking weed or tobacco (or actually many other dangerous and illegal activities) because of how cool it is, because it is a VIOLATION of the rules, for the adrenaline of the act. So, once you remove the adrenaline from the act, it became less interesting and to seek some thrills you go and ask for more just as people went and ask for weed to their local dealers. It is not an inviolable rule, it is not mathematical, it is just a legitimate concern about how these kind of rebellious behaviours work in regard of drugs... abusers are going to be abusers no matter what you legalise, what really matters is how you deal with them later on, rehab and such. Peace.

Not to mention the possibility of your shit getting laced with meth or something. I had a friend who got sent to the ER because the weed he bought was laced with meth and crack. My dad had his laced with angel dust back in the 70's. Making a safe market that is legal to buy pot from nearly completely eliminates this possibility. I say nearly because I'm sure that people will buy from this, jump states, and sell it in states where it's illegal, reintroducing the possibility of it being laced.

As the years passed, I'd smoke more and more frequently, chasing the high. When a handful of bong bowls didn't do the trick, I moved to dabs. And eventually started experimenting with harder substances in hope that I would achieve those enhanced sensations. Weed wasn't doing it anymore. Little did I know (and many others I assume) frequent tolerance breaks helps tremendously. I do believe weed can be a gateway drug for the uninformed.

@@flowfrog101 I do agree with you. The problem is you have to add that whole explanation to give context so it doesn't seem like cannabis has some inherent feature that makes it more likely you do harder drugs. It is because KZbin is a business to make money. It wants to have videos that appeal to advertisers. Meaning avoidance of anything controversial to satisfy advertisers. If you think about it that way it makes perfect sense why this video is demonetized.
@BDD_c2bn6 жыл бұрын
Because the process is automated. They don't have people manually reviewing the 400,000+ hours of videos that get uploaded every day. That's 300 hours of content every minute. They have to use AI, and if it mentions bombs or drugs or something racist or anything else that might get them in trouble with advertisers, it gets demonitized. Remember that you are not their customer. Your eyeballs are the product that they're selling. I'm not saying it is a good system. I personally think that KZbin's algorithm is FAR TOO careful. Hell, you can find advertisers who don't mind this stuff. Sure, they may pay less, but that is better than totally demonitizing the content.
@thesugref6 жыл бұрын
Its not that KZbin don't want to pay their creators, YT makes money by putting ads on videos and then gives a cut to the people who made the video but because advertisers are sceptical of YT right now because they don't want their products associated with something 'negative' (like drugs) theyre taking a strict approach by demonetizing loads of videos to gain advertisers confidence and in the long run benefit everyone.

I was a low-key weed addict that lived through the legalization in Canada, I feel it's really important to empgasize the first counter-argument Kurzgesagt presents. When legalization occurred, it meant two things: there was a great variety of choices that could be picked according to CBD and THC concentrations, and the lower THC concentrations were cheaper. As such I went from smoking often very strong weed from dealers, to smoking the cheapest weed. This allowed me to not completely alienate myself from others when smoking as I wasn't as impaired. Isolation is one of the worst things weed addiction can do to regular users in my opinion. It also allowed me to quit more easily.

I actually see the point of the title. This video was not meant to be seen by people who already support cannabis decriminalisation as it would only reinforce our views. Its meant to be watched by people who are against its legalisation, as they are more likely to see videos against cannabis and attempt to obtain arguments against its subsequent legality. Nice thinking if this was the case!

ALL people hold defensive walls against arguments about beliefs that they hold. If you think cannabis should remain illegal, there is no amount of fact or statistic that will change your mind. To entice people to watch this video who would otherwise not, they have cleverly pretended it is against cannabis use. You are absolutely right, and it was was very cleaver of them to do this.
@Enderman-en3dv6 жыл бұрын
Let me lay it out for you. People who would be convinced would have clicked on the video anyways People who were drawn in by the title aren't going to be convinced The title won't result in any more people getting convinced The title will, however, upset people that thought they had actually finally found a mainstream youtuber that supported their views. I'm of the first type. I thought a video that's actually anti-legalization would be interesting, as it's an opinion with extremely little representation, and it's arguments are almost never heard. Instead of actually hearing it's arguments, I heard what I find very likely to be a strawman version of the arguments, based on the original argument but modified to be easily taken down. The video was biased in favor of legalization, and I can't trust it to provide an accurate representation of anti-legalization arguments. It's not right for Kurzgesagt, with this dirty tactic, to further increase the stranglehold that pro-legalization sources have over what people are able to hear.

Sam Girardin You're assuming all drugs other than marijuana are bad. That's kinda not the point.
@lodziklocPL6 жыл бұрын
The point here is: ideally, you are fully aware of the implications of taking a specific drug and you are an informed user who can vouch for the exact contents and effects of the substance you're taking. That's the basic idea behind taking medication - they also contain instructions and information regarding potential side effect, basically assuming that before you take any of it, you are going to be aware of vital information regarding it. Since you cannot vouch for the quality of drugs provided by most street dealers, nor they contain reliable instructions or even descriptions of their contents, there is no way you can be informed or have assurance that your drugs are reliable. Of course drugs other than marijuana "are bad". Even marijuana itself "is bad" (language like this isn't very helpful, y'know). This is common sense. If you are smart and don't buy common sense explanations (which doesn't go well with describing drugs as simply "bad"), then look up some papers which conclude that marijuana can, in fact, cause some unpleasant side effects.
@thepineapplegamer68726 жыл бұрын
Loc not necessarily true dude, psychedelics like LSD and mushrooms have absolutely no physical implications and have been seen to be very useful in treating depression and PTSD, only if you are predisposed to mental illness such as schizophrenia can their effects really be bad. @burnttoast1116 жыл бұрын
Nathan Williamson I think you have things backwards. I think the objection to drugs stems from a Puritanical idea that feeling good is in itself bad. And things are not made legal because they have justification to say they are "okay" - things are legal until they are made illegal, hopefully for good reasons. Should cigarettes and alcohol be illegal? Should listening to loud music be illegal? Should eating fried food be illegal? Should being a deep-sea welder be illegal? Should being an air-traffic controller be illegal? Should people be legally able to join the military and fight in a war? I think as long as a person is made aware of the risks of an activity, and they are mentally capable to understand the risks, they should have the freedom to engage in that activity as long as it doesn't impinge on the rights of others. So driving your car down a residential street at 120mph should be illegal, because you could kill someone else who doesn't want to be a part of your activity. If you want to sit down and eat 500 boxes of Twinkies until you die, I don't think that should be illegal, since that is just your life.

I think you haven't considered the most important effect: Weed finances illegal activities so providing ways of accessing it through legal means actually takes funding out of criminal organizations' hands. Why would you try buying weed from a pusher that may end up mugging you in the process instead of walking into a shop, safe and sound, and buy it there...
@AthenaGate4 жыл бұрын
The increase in cost in California actually allows for a black market to exist still. Tight regulations and high taxes increase the cost of cannabis by a large margin. It's so difficult that sometimes legal companies will sell their products on the black market.

@@AthenaGate I'm sure the same thing goes everywhere that has it legalized. I've heard plenty of people that are outraged at the prices of legal weed and they just buy it on the black market anyways. These are generally people who have had a long history with weed though. Personally, the higher prices don't bother me because I'm a pretty casual user and I'd rather not mess around buying it illegally. That's part of the reason I never messed with it at all pre-legalization anyways.
@CXLV1014 жыл бұрын
cheesewheel Facts. Not to mention, legalisation with increased prices serves as more of an incentive for people to think twice about getting fried all the time lol, while given them the best advice and precautions for exactly which strains to buy for their requirements and their levels of THC if/when they decide to buy. Overall, I think it increases knowledge and research about bud that doesn’t exist in places where it’s still illegal. So I agree when the vid said legalisation will defo do more good than it will bad imo. I’m from London and it’s still prohibited here in the UK, and I’ve been smoking for a few years but would like to go to an actual dispensary and pay more but actually know what I’m smoking. In places where it’s illegal, there’s like no real regulation when it comes to weed which is annoying sometimes because these strain names and shit get ridiculous 🤣
@AthenaGate4 жыл бұрын
@@cheesewheel Yeah, you have a much better idea of what you are buying at a legal shop. I personally buy from legal shops too but mostly for CBD+thc products which are non existent on the black market. The other issue is that the legal system is rigged. Licenses are so limited that some people will buy them just to eliminate competition. In the end of the day it will be corporate America that owns the industry and not the people who fought to legalize it. Especially if your of color which is fucked up because they got locked up the most for using cannabis.
