Ms. Jonas was born to be in Godspell, both on stage and on film. Her singing. dancing, and facial expressions were second to none in the movie. It is hard to watch the other cast members in the film when she is present. That she didn't continue her musical or film career.....well, the loss is totally ours.

What did she actually do afterwards; and who is "Rolling" (father to her child)???

This is treat for Joanne Jonas fans who've expressed frustration that they never got to see her in her ORIGINAL role in the Godspell movie (since she filled in for Sonia's role in the movie due to Sonia's Sesame Street shooting schedule). Joanne is performing with our AMAZING 2ND cast who filled in for the majority of the original cast who went to LA to open the show at The Mark Taper Forum.

This is one of my favorite songs from Godspell, and while Joanne does a great job with the song here (at least the lyrics were more understandable), I think that Lynne's version in the movie had more joyful energy.

Great! Her voice is a study in vocal gymnastics! This was always my favorite Godspell song, and this was a great version, thanks for posting.

I love Joanne both in the movie and on the Original Broadway (Cherry Lane) Cast Album. What a treat to see her perform her original role live. What a fun characterization! She is also so beautiful and you can tell she is such a strong dancer!

You're so right about her being beautiful. She really stands out in the movie. I remember watching "Godspell" on CBS every Easter and being fixated by "the guy in the Superman shirt", not knowing that he was Victor Garber and his career would really take off later. But back to Joanne Jonas, in the movie she looked a lot like Jennifer Beals from "Flashdance".

Normally I strongly prefer Lynne Thigpen's version of Bless the Lord. Mind you, Joanne did a great job on Turn Back, O Man. But this performance really caught me by surprise. She's great doing it this way.

Yes, I felt the same: she sings it almost as tough as Lynne Thigpen (RIP) did

I didn't realize she had a different role in the stage version than in the film.

What was that? A play on the phrase "heavy petting?" Was she channeling Mae West?

She takes it on a different tune on the verses “He will not always chide…” And “Then bless his holy name”
