I like 3bet bluffing IP a lot just to tilt players. They also tend to start calling looser later.

Excellent as usual. Feels good that I utilize 2 of these pretty consistantly....the River over-bet is a very infrequent thing I do. To me it is a nuts or nothing type situation and I need to really feel they overfold in these spots. It is the risk averse part of my game I am trying to work on.

I've followed your content for some time as a Red Chip subscriber. On the river over bet, the logic, as I understand it is hero is barreling their flush draw, then turned straight draw, then over betting the missed river. The board is very wet and villain is incentivized to raise their strong hands so as to deny equity to myriad draws that Villain does not suggests his overall range is wide with many weakish hands that would fold to pressure. QUESTION: Are you thinking about what the river card is in terms of making this bet? Off suit King is an interesting card because it completes the nut straight draw and puts an over card to the board out there. If instead, the 2 of diamonds rolls off does it change your thinking? I would imagine if a 9 or T pairs the board, hero slows down?

I do this move every now and then, but only when I'm deep stacked and vs reasonable players. 100bb or less Vs calling stations there's a good chance to get called on the turn by Ace high or marginal made hands, ending up with a crippled stack.

It's a totally different playbook when villain is a fish vs. reg =)

Hi James - in the third situation in the RARE situation that you hit an obscure straight or set, is it wise to show your hand to folds in order to set up this bluff later, or is that unessessary with decent players?

James I been watching / studying your material for good bit now, I have such a deep passion for this game for years and I’ve graphed all my hands over 5 years and never went -EV except for first 1.5 years But I just don’t know how to translate how much this game matters to me and I study so much and I still feel so critical bt my lines bc if it isn’t perfect I am terrified I made a mistake Can I pay you to just throw at me in FaceTime session a broad of fundamental and advance spots to get a overall unbiased view of my edge and if i have anything or potential to thrive in higher stakes, I’m messing with 5/10 but I just need reassurance / someone to judge my lines and thought processes

Hey, got a poker hand to analyze? Hero A8 off on the small blind, standard raise the big blind who calls. Flop A 5 9 rainbow, Hero bets about 2/3 pot, villain calls. *here I'm thinking he might have the ace or could also be trying to rep trips or the nine. Turn is another blank, lets say a 10, no flush draw out there. Hero check, villain bets about half pot, hero calls. I wanted to see if he had or wanted to rep at least an Ace. River comes another Ace, I decide to pull the trigger and pot bet what is now a pretty big pot, looking to set over set or crush an A6 off type hand. Villain raises, I re'raise, all in. Turns out villain has A9off. Am I right to think very unlikely and the very top of his standard raise calling range off the big blind?

I don't see the bet/3bet doing much good on the river, especially considering your bet is a donk. I would check/decide the river as-played personally.

I mean shouldn't I be trying to get value out my hand? I guess to rephrase the question, how statistically likely was it that I had the best hand by River? @@ThePokerBank
@ThePokerBank

@@night_inhale quite likely that your hand is ahead when you get to the river, but very unlikely villain calls with much second-best when you jam the river.
