How the hell is 1 trainer teaching 2 students how to operate a semi? You the (trainer) would need to be awake 24/7 when the students are driving... If you the trainer are asleep while a student is driving then 1 ur not teaching and 2nd ur putting lives at risk...
@joshuamoore6128
@joshuamoore6128 5 жыл бұрын
When I started you operated under a solo schedule for a week or two then spent the rest of the time operating on a team schedule with the trainer. Driving a truck isn't difficult. Once the trainer feels you aren't a danger in the road, their job is more about teaching you how to manage your time, fine tuning your backing, route planning, etc. Those things don't require the trainer to be awake all the time on cross country trips.
@southstreetbarbecue7875
@southstreetbarbecue7875 5 жыл бұрын
@@joshuamoore6128 I completely disagree. I trained for my company and our policy was that if we were caught sleeping while the trainee was driving we were terminated. Just about every moment on the road can be a teachable moment and if something comes up that a student isn't prepared for you're doing them no good at all asleep in the back. If it's an emergency situation the student isn't ready to handle it could easily cost you your life. Sleeping while a trainee drives is dangerous, irresponsible, and just plain bad instruction.

Yep, that's the C.R. England I remember. Treating trainees like dirt and meat GPS systems. Though, when I trained with them, they had just made a rule that trainees couldn't sleep in the top bunk while the vehicle was in motion. So, I guess it's nice and cramped during any drive shift, but trainer makes bank because the truck only has to stop for load, reload, fuel, maintenance, and pre-trips.

Hold up. I got to drive one of these. It's a really smooth, quiet, nice truck. We'll see how they age, but these automatics are pretty good now, not like those original autoshift monstrosities. I'm buying a newer truck this week which is another 10 speed but the one after will almost certainly be an automatic. They're getting to be all the same now and I'm staying with Freightliner because I like the interior layout better than Peterbilt or KW, and Volvos are too hard to get into a shop that will work on them. Just not going to have a 2 or 3 person truck.

That just seems like a bad idea. I came from England 3 years ago and I'm greatful that they helped me get my cdl, and extremely lucky that they guy that trained me had 22 years behind the wheel. But 2 trainees at the same time? Your supposed to stay awake with them to make sure they can drive. How the f are you managing that? And your cramming more people into the same size truck? No extra storage space. Tempers are gonna get bad at some point, then you have inexpirienced drivers with no supervision and a bad attitude (I'm sure the trainer doesn't stay awake 24/7), and more people to get hurt when it wipes out. This is just a dumb idea on the company's part. But like he said in the video its all about the money. Dosn't the trainer have to sleep? And OMG! Why are they being allowed to train in Automatics. Don't fall for this people. I'm shure there are people that know that if you train in an automatic. You get something put on your nice new CDL at the DMV that says ya still suck. It dosen't really say that, but it should. Well that's if you go to CR Englands school. And they teach you on an automatic. It shouldn't even be allowed for training in my opinion. It just a shitty way of learning.
