Really depends on what kind of genre you're going for and what amp you have driving. But yeah, in general, one uses the Mesa when you're trying to bring the thunder

I think the 1960av is the best sounding! I've owned all 3 and the regular 1960 I hated. Of the V30 cabs on the market the Orange PPC412 is my fave followed by the Marshall. Mesa’s 4x12 is just too loose and cavernous for me with anything but a Recto (I know PLENTY disagree) but their 212 rules.

At first I thought 1960a Cab sounded the best but the more I listened The 1960 BV at the end of the video sounded cleaner and when it came to the muted triple picking I can hear it alot cleaner and warmer then the 1960a. As far as the Mesa it surprised me it sounded like noise which is shocking since i have been a Mesa fan for a long time.

That Mesa rocks... You can hear the thump of lows so dam cleanly. Marshall Lead sounds pretty dope too. Vintage sound little thin to my tastes.

The Mesa would likely sound better with a speaker change. The Mesa spec V30s are voiced darker and are a bit bland . The Marshall spec V30s are Killer .

I think too, a mix of the two cabs, first Marshall, then the Mesa, together would sound tits. The Marshall is raw, but sounds great. Mesa is a little darker and smooth compared to the 1960av.

1. Marshall 1960AV / 2. Marshall 1960 Lead / 3. Mesa for me. Mesa lack character somehow. Maybe it can be rectified (sic!) with changing the amp settings, but in this video it's definitely Marshall 1960AV

The problem with the 1960a is the lack of tightness for fast picking. Mids are pretty scoop too. Not a good choice for modern metal tone IMO. Sold mine for a Mesa and a Engl.

That issue is easily fixed with a speaker swaps . Loose sound and scooped mids are just the character of the G12T75. It's a medium magnet speaker and they are not knows for tightness. The V30s have heavy magnets and thus are much tighter .

No... they are NOT Vintage 30's - they are Marshall branded Celestion Vintage's, made in the UK not china (if that makes any difference at all). They predate the V30's, and are slightly higher wattage rated, around 70/75w. Not as mid-range focussed. Nice speakers.

@@guvnafied they are v30s... There are 5 different types of v30s and marshall has their own branded 16ohm version with part number t3987. It's still a v30 though.
