@@michellewatts7208 Important to do oil changes on time as well as checking oil level monthly. Not to mention transmission fluid, and change that out around every 60k miles or your transmission could go up. Check all fluid levels, helps to catch a leak early, gaskets and seals can wear out over time. I have seen toyotas over 800k miles on them and a Honda with 999,999k miles on the odometer (97 cr-v). Take care of your car, it takes care of you. Enjoy your toYODA

2011 Honda Accord here, 2.4 L engine, 5 Speed Manual transmission and best car I have ever had. Currently has 177,000 miles on it and I think it may outlast me as Im only putting about 10,000 miles a year. Like you said, routine maintenance is all it needs.

I've got 2009 Accord coupe V6 (so we're same gen, 2008-2012 8th/8.5 gen) ...149k miles...runs like a clock. Like you said, just basic fluid maintenance. Agree, my favorite car ever, I wouldnt trade it for any car under about $75k. I've done a few aftermarket mods. Had to pay about $20k out of pocket for body shop work after 2 accidents but its back to good now and thats how much it means to me. I've invested a lot of money in this car. I plan to keep it for 10-15 more years at least. I'm going to get it completely re-painted in the next year or 2.

2009 Camry Hybrid 210K (with Scotty's oil burner 2.4L engine) is the most reliable car I have ever owned. 38 MPG City/42 MPG Highway. Original Hybrid traction battery is still measuring 60% useful life, 15 years later. The engine does burn 1 quart after 4K miles, due to its age I have stepped up the oil change interval to every 4K miles.

Any honda or toyota that doesn't have turbos or GDI is a good choice honestly as long as it's been maintained. My experience is that the toyotas seem slightly higher quality but the Hondas are more sporty/fun to drive.

I got about 600,000 miles on my 1985 f150 with the straight 6. Just normal wear and tear like brakes and shocks. Worst thing I needed to change was a rear main seal

If that's the 300 six cylinder they are an awesome engine. I had a 1070 GMC 292 years ago that I put in my 79 Chevy truck and it was a runner and a half. Those were the two best 6 cylinders ever made. I had 240, 000 on it. I bought the motor when it had 19,000 miles on it from a wrecked truck.

The Camry has real gauges for the tachometer and speedometer too, which is a plus for me. I don’t know about you guys but I can’t stand having a screen with slow refreshing numbers for the speedometer.

I just took a pic of my odometer as it turned to 222222 on my 2003 Honda Odyssey. As the second owner, I've taken just as good care as the first owner and she's in amazing condition. When I was looking for that year of Honda Odyssey, I made sure that I waited to get one where I knew the transmission was good. The first owner put in a brand new transmission 15,000 miles before I bought her, and it's perfect.

All manufacturers should've kept a manual transmission option period. Six speeds for cars and seven speeds for trucks (granny gear/compound low first and a good OD ).

While I wish there were more manual transmissions offered, it isn't realistic for companies to offer them in all models. The sales numbers don't lie. Americans would not buy them for family haulers like SUV's and minivans. That makes up a huge percentage of the cars sold here.

In the market for a new (used) car for the wife and Scotty's videos have really helped. Really have it down to a Civic or Camry. The Accord Hybrid (2023+) is what I really want, but it is priced out of reach. All the other Accords are 1.5L Turbos and having owned a turbo in the past, I do not want one going forward. That said, my personal car is a 2012 VW Passat. I know VW gets a bad rap in terms of reliability, but that car with an inline 5-cylinder (yes, you read that right, 5-cylinder) engine is just rock solid. No engine issues (knock on wood), smooth, quiet, extremely comfortable ride. Only oil and fluid and other routine maintenance like cabin air filter. If you can find a 2012 or 2013 VW Passat with the inline 5, you will not question your purchase. Not going to knock your socks off with acceleration, but with left hand turns, you don't get that heart-stopping pause that you get with turbos. Great gas mileage for a pretty heavy car especially on the highway. Oh yeah, did I say the ride is smooth and quiet?

I use the trunk pass-through for my fishing poles believe it or not. 2007 5MT Accord SE 286k miles, all by me… only had to replace rotors, starter motor and O2 sensors once. Hell I got 9 years out of the dang battery! The headliner just gave out but that’s probably because it’s never been garaged. Does have the dreaded Honda rear wheel well rust issue… I didn’t know about that until it was too late, but everything else still runs like a dream )

I have a 2011 Accord. Some lady sideswiped me and I need Passenger side rear quarter panel, rear door, passenger door, and fender replaced. $4200 for all the damage which insurance said they will cover. The parts together are maybe $1000. Labor is 3/4 of the price. One more reason to buy a huge selling Japanese car. If I had a Mercedes, the parts would easily be closer to $10k-$15k.

I've had 2 MB's, both maintained flawlessly and both were unreliable. Switched to Lexus and will never go back to any German product. IMO they are all junk. Good bodies but it ends there. Look at Germany and the German economy and be glad if you live in the USA.

I am a loyal Toyota driver. Bought the first one in 1971. Brand new Corolla. Cost $2,450.00!! Had a 1980 Toyota pickup for 18 years. Was still running when I sold it. I have never owned a Honda car or truck. However. I have put a quarter of a million miles on just two Honda GL1800 Goldwing motorcycles. Sold the first one and bought the second one just because I just plain got tired of riding it! 😂😂

When it comes to you daily driver, the car you use just to go to and from work or whatever, you want the most boring car with the most boring engine that they offer in that car. Use the Mustang or Corvette for the weekend. And I've brought it up before and I'll do it again but another car that could make this list is the Crown Vic. Those frames are rock solid and when the transmission goes just get a reman put in it and drive it another 250,000+ miles.

The same goes for Mazda. Mazda engineers and assembles their cars in Japan, along with their engines and transmissions. I just bought a 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback and I absolutely love it. Quality car, and no cvt transmission(it's a 6 speed conventional transmission with gears).

That Mazda is sweet! I have a 2007 Saturn Sky. I bought her from a friend with 91K on her. It is just for fun but, I have never had an issue with it and it is SO awesome to drive through the Twisties here in the Ozarks. If the trip counter is right, I tend to get somewhere between 36-40 mpg on back roads, 32-34 city and 34-36 highway in my honda Accord sport. Going on 6 years now and she still feels like new! I'm very happy with it

I had a 04" honda accord coupe the worst car i ever had transmission went around 130k and the motor went out around 150k miles and i got rid of it got a 99 camry with 34k mile not one problem iit now has over 150k miles sill running like a champ best car i ever had i kn people love hondas but im taking a toyota every time

180k was about the tops for that transmission. Many warranties were issued to get those cars off the used lots. Eventually the car dealers paid so much in warranty work on those transmission they sold as is. The Honda Odyssey of that era also had huge transmission issues.

I'm not sure why Scotty always trashes CVTs. I used to own a 2007 Dodge Caliber with the 2.0L 4 and a CVT. The engine and transaxle never gave me any problems and ran beautifully, including when I added the last 41k miles to the odometer during 13 months of driving semi full time with Uber and Lyft.

When my wife and I were dating she had a 96 Accord EX v6. Yes when it had 40k miles it would do 140mph. But with 170K miles it would only do 125mph. My wife is from MT and everyone who lives in Montana knows what a Montana car is like. I nicknamed her Accord, Shake, Rattle and Roll. It was a GREAT car. She slipped into a ditch with her mom and she screamed, What do I do? Her mom yelled back, Give her hell and get us outta the ditch. My wife Floored that Honda and yes they got out of the ditch. I own a 2000 Accord that has been a reliable daily driver. I love this car it's been a nothing but reliable for 2 and a half decades can't wait till 2025 and I can finally register it as a classic car in my state and get permanent plates and can forgo the fees assigned to a normal car. I just bought an F23A1 JDM engine to swap in, as I made an oopsie and overheated it and lifted the head gasket. I'm also a mechanic but don't have the years in you do, your channel has been such a source of knowledge for me. I'm very into hands on learning, but to have a point of reference to back up my diagnosis is key. I'm a streetsweeper mechanic, I went to my local community college for training, but in my profession you also have to be welder and fabricator as parts for some trucks in service, the companies that made these sweepers no longer exist. I bought an MX 900 Autel scan tool through your link and my job is so much easier now, thank you Scotty! If your into cars buy a good scan tool it will save you so much headache.

I currently drive a 2017 Nissan Altima SV with 26k mi. It's been a great run around car. It will get 52+mpg @70mph with premium non-ethanol gas. I discovered that when I was working on my boat and needed to drain its fuel tank to repair. I used up 85 gallons over the summer!
