Getting into the cold stuff...A whole nother story from canoeing. I've done one in Algonquin which was a semi fail (3 season tent) but would like to perfect it. Made a full page list of things to change from summer camping. Not to be a downer but unfortunately a young Swedish youtuber passed this week trying a milder winter camp. Anyone watching, Take winter stuff seriously and slow. Maybe people would like to pass on their respects to his page.
@WhenNaturePauls2 күн бұрын
That's so sad. You are totally correct in saying winter camping is not to be taken lightly. We was lucky not to be caught out by the predicted winds, but we also had a solid escape plan. Who was the poor guy who passed away?
@brentkelly54452 күн бұрын
@@WhenNaturePauls Hi Paul. His name is Storm De Beul. It was in the north, Jokkmokk but milder -6c. With a storm it felt -18c. Too rough for a rescue.
@dougieranger2 күн бұрын
How sad, may he rest in peace.
@EzeAdventurer2 күн бұрын
I know about this guy and saw the news... poor kid. Real wake up call for sure to all of us and many out there. Definitely we weren't taking this one lightly despite the humour and messing around on camera... we were very much fixated on the wind forecast which never came luckily, but as Paul said we had multiple escape options in survival mode.
@foresteroutdoors2 күн бұрын
What amazing conditions! Can’t beat those base camp trips with not having to be anywhere and hot tenting when it’s sub zero Loved the canoe sledding 😂 n the meals looked spot on! Lucky escape with the weather, and the drone! What level was the drone battery to do that?
@EzeAdventurer2 күн бұрын
We dodged a bullet with the wind.. still unexplainable how. I think it was about 35%.. gave a temperature warning before take off, I waited, the warning went away (thought the battery was warm enough), and then it malfunctioned
@foresteroutdoorsКүн бұрын
@ yeh you could have been sheltered somehow. Oh wow, deffo didn’t like the cold or was colder higher up! I thought about getting one of those floats to attach for over water, insurance doesn’t pay out for me if I can’t retrieve it(knackered or not) it’s just extra bulk to carry tho. Seen that you put it in the dehydrator 😂💪🏻
