I grew up down there. Specifically on a houseboat on Card Sound RD just north of the Card Sound RD bridge on the east side right before the toll area (there use to be a toll booth there). My mom worked at Alabama Jacks, and my grandma worked in the toll booth. Having grown up down there and known a few Monroe Co Deputies and Marine Patrol that did that job my gut tells me he was checking on you to make sure you weren’t smugglers either drugs or people. Thanks for the video of my old stomping grounds, it brought back some memories.

On a professional fishing trip, Australia, Queensland, East Coast we caught a Green Shark. About 3 feet long.The decky put it in a large container full of water, & cut its tail off as, according to him, sharks will bleed out through there & lose the ammonia taste. This makes excellent eating. It was cooked in batter & was very tasty, moist & flaky.
