Little tip from a marine here Mav, also love the videos. When you have the heater for the MRE, obviously put water in it but fill it a little past the line on the bag. Then shake it a bit so the water can spread over the heating packet. Once it heats up a bit, smack it a couple of times on the heater and it’ll warm right up. Just watched the collab with Luke and Outdoor boys! Was stoked to see you guys meet up! U should go with Luke next winter on one of his winter camping trips where he builds little enclosed beds. That would be super cool video. And you should hit up Kyle's Cabin!! He lives in Northern Minnesota too. Built his own cabins from trees in the woods. Yall are about the same age!! The one time I went Ice fishing with my dad, grandad and cousin was a scary horrific experience. We went out late in the season on Lake Simcoe here in Ontario. We were way out on the ice in a rented hut. The ice cracked all night scaring the shit out of me! The water kept fluctuating in the hole...didn't sleep a wink. Caught crap. In the morning there were huge sheets of fresh ice on top of the existing ice. You'll never catch me out on the ice ever again.

I've learned on MREs add the salt packet to the water of the frh and it works a lot better

If you shake the MRE heater with water in it gently, and add the salt packet to the heater water it will get hot.

ive had the same thing happen to me while ice fishing on Redlake, lost my van keys while trying to collect my stuff, I had dnr use a metal detector to find my keys buried under the snow, my van was stuck on the ice for 2 days prior to finding my keys was hectic, happy you got Ur gear an the wind wasn't facing in the direction of the middle of the lake would've been bad
