I hung my food pack one time, in camp, but don’t even do that anymore. It’s just bear proof containers or the Kevlar bear bags tied to trees for me. In your defense, I did hear of one story, just one, in all my years tripping there, since 1980, of a bear running off with an unattended food pack at the end of a portage, but there’s no way I’m going through the trouble of hanging with those odds.
