3 Days in Saudi Arabia's Empty Quarter! ٱلرُّبْع ٱلْخَالِي The Ultimate Saudi Experience!

The world's largest sand desert, the Rub Al Khali is almost 250,000 square miles in size with sand dunes far beyond what the eye can see.
The Empty Quarter may be an inhospitable place, but we went with the most welcoming team we know! In December 2020, we joined up with Najran Tours for a 3-day experience in the Empty Quarter.
We spent our time driving in the sand dunes, hiking, sandboarding and experiencing the great hospitality of the Najran Tours team.
Plus, it was Christmas so we had a very special guest stop by!
As you can see in this video, we loved our time in the Empty Quarter, and we hope to be able to go back and explore even more one day!

There is so much to do! In fact, we're already dreaming about a return trip to do some more exploring, see rock art, and visit the nature reserve where they have Arabian Oryx!

Great video again. I just can't imagine the beauty of starry nights out there. Yesterday they inaugarated the road between KSA and Oman... Direct road of more than 500 km through the empty quarter. I think it would be a good opportunity to see more of the desert. Have fun.

They're not our kids 🤣 but all the kids had a great time on the trip. Going on an organized trip like this definitely made it easier for the kids since most things like food were already taken care of. If you live close to the desert, I might recommend a few weekend desert trips before jumping straight in and going to a remote place like the empty quarter. And if you're not already suuuuuper prepared and spending a lot of time in the desert, going with an organized group like this is the best way (Najran Tours is who we used).

The Sahara desert is definitely bigger, but large parts of it are rocky with only relatively small sections of it being ‘ergs’ or sand seas full of dunes. The Empty Quarter is the largest sand desert - sorry if we weren’t clear on that! Thanks for watching!

Going to desert must be more than one car The best is a group👌🏻 And don't move away that network coverage🤳🏻 (The reason is that you can get stuck in a car while you are in a place where no one is in a desert

For sure! Multiple cars, knowing how to drive off road, and having the right recovery gear are all important factors (and part of the fun)! There are areas we will go alone, but not a place like the Empty Quarter!

It was actually a really thoughtful gesture from our Saudi guide and friend. He said he was always grateful when people would celebrate his holidays with him and he wanted to say thank you by celebrating with us. We were there on Christmas Day, and it was a really nice thing for him to do for the kids for just a few minutes that evening. Don't worry though, on that trip (and over the 6 years we've lived in Saudi Arabia) we've taken way more time to dive into traditional experiences, make friends, and explore the country. Hopefully the rest of this video and our channel shows that 😀 Thanks for watching!
