I love intermittent fasting and have been eating mostly OMAD since June 2020. Even though OMAD is my standard, I love being flexible in my schedule and will at times have variations to keep things interesting. I have lost weight, got into a healthy weight range for my height and maintained the weight loss for over 3 years! I love to share the flexibility and peace offered through intermittent fasting.

I ended up making it to 63. It was amazing but I wasn’t prepared to do it. I was happy I did it as long as this. A little easier knowing others are doing it too 😊

It took time for me to work up to a 72 hour fast. And I’ve not done it very often. I’m coming to the end of one now. I’d gotten pretty lax and I need a serious reset. Good luck to everyone on the road 🛣️🚴‍♀️to good health!

It's always inspiring to watch you complete a longer fast, and talk us through. I was just about to ask about you drinking the flavored LMNT, but you covered it. I just started back with IF. I've tried before & failed. I don't know why, but it's working this time. I was able to do two 20 hr. fasts, followed by two 16 hr. fasts. It does seem to get easier once you get past a certain mindset. I'm at 18 hrs right now; I'm thinking I may wait for the 24 hr. mark. It will be my first 24 hour fast.

Congrats on another 72 hr fast! Its my down day today, trying to go for 42-48 hrs. I just finished my period so I feel like the fasts are a bit easier. I would like to join you in Sept and even try the LMNT flavors. The raw is just so so salty!

It is! I like flavored much more, but when I’m making sure it’s clean I stick to raw! (Like right now in a long fast)

Hey Foodies! Jackie, just want to thank you for being an inspiration and a pull to directional health. I've started my 72 today at 9:28 P.m.... and Tuesday will at this time I'll have the victory of completing a intentional rest from food. I'm also as in the pass drink my coffee and 💦. Wanted to know when the fast is complete do you re feed as a down day or an up day.

For some reason the LMNT packs make me hungry when I go over 24hr fasts, must be the sweetener in them

I still think best bet is a clean fast! But learning and experimenting for the individual let’s you know what’s best for you! Thanks for sharing

I don’t know if it’s because I don’t associate lmnt with eating and I’m used to fasting. But I was surprised

It's been so difficult to even eat one meal a day because I do exercise (bootcamp) about an hour a day and am starving by mid day. But I did do it consistently for about 3 months and have seen weight loss. I just don't know think I can see myself doing this long term as the hunger pains are getting stronger by the day. Can someone please give me some guidance?

Please try cutting down on your exercise time! Your body naturally gives you stronger ghrelin symptoms when you are burning lots of calories to maintain homeostasis. Try working out for 30 mins each day and see if it helps. 👍

Yes, it does! Gin Stephens talks about it in her book FAST, FEAST REPEAT. So much easier doing a "clean" fast! I have been a faster now for just over 2 years (thanks to Jackie) I have lost over 70# and literally eat whatever I want!!

I avoid it if possible. I do think it can make you feel hungrier. Clean fasting (avoiding flavors) is best bet, but individuals are different!

I found it really hard for a long time to get past 24 too! Once I’d been fasting for a year I knew I was fat adapted and it did get easier! Do what you are comfortable with and if you consistently fast your body does get to the point where switching from dietary fat to stored fat for fuel is quick and you will find going past 24 is easy. But it takes time, practice, and tips - I focus on zero additions to my drinks when fasting (no heavy whipping cream in coffee, just a pinch of salt for electrolytes). Keeping busy and distracted with work/decluttering, having fun things like sparkling water in the evening during a movie makes it slightly easier.

Element drink has 15 calories so I don’t drink it or it isn’t a real fast

I understand not having the flavors during fasts, up until recently I only had flavors in my eating window. I’ve been experimenting to see what feels good vs. doesn’t

@@orianawhitehouse2779Hi there. I find pop or sparkling waters help my fast. The bubbles activate the stretch receptors in my stomach and immediately take away hunger. I don’t find flavoured teas or waters affect my hunger on ADF or 3 day fasts. My preferred teas are fruit flavoured.
