3 days Tent CAMPING in the MOUNTAINS | INDIAN STAIRCASE | Red River Gorge | Backpacking

In this video I hike into the Kentucky Mountains for a 3 day / 2 night camping trip with my nephew Christian and his Dad, Ben. First night, we secure a beautiful campsite. Second night we hike around to see several huge stone arches, rock structures, overlooks, cliff, caves and finally climb a large rock scramble called Indian Staircase.
This is area was supposedly used by the Adena Indians for various purposes. There seems to be some contention about their involvement with this structure/area. I'll let you do your own research.

Man this look like a nice adventure with your nephew and his dad. Tell Ben I said you did an excellent job hanging in there. I am big like ben myself so I know the challenges he went through. I do not let my weight stop me especially when I have 6 very active boys. Ben handled those trailers very well. I can only imagine how good I can handle those trails if I had some hiking boots to wear instead of wearing flip-flops. The campsite you had was nice too. I wish I can go hit the trails right now but I think my fun is over for the year. I injured my knee pretty good and I'm in a knee cast right now so I'm think I'm done for the winner. you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving and good video thank you for sharing.

I didn't go anywhere near as far and some of the stuff I brought was in my bike bags but my entire body hurts. I also didn't go up or down anywhere near as many inclined planes. Good job, guys!

I don't know why I didn't see this video when you first posted it I wish I had. It was so cool to watch you hike some of the same trails I did around 24 years ago, when my two daughters were 7 and 10. That is such a beautiful area I wish I could go back there with them once again.

Not sure if you know Miguel's Pizza, but I was talking to the owner (Miguel) after we finished this trip. He said that because of that resort they are building close by, it will mean people will not be able to dispersed camp at Indian Staircase anymore. Not sure if he's right, but I want to get down there as much as possible either way.

I know this video is old but man i couldnt camp with people that cant help. Like the you kid could of cut the branches while you set up fire. The kid should have way more energy that anyone. Im mot trying to bash on anyone. I think its awesome people wanted to go camping with you but when doing anything it should be a team effort. I could be wrong maybe they all did stuff together but i just seen sam doing all the work to get fire set up and going.

They did both contribute plenty but it's the filming of it that is difficult. You can't leave the camera rolling for 72 hours. It's not practical in terms of space and battery. So I have to turn it on and I didn't want them to have to be performative.

I love your videos and i happen to be watching this 1 yesterday and i was at the beginning where you was collecting wood, setting up the fire, and making there meals. I started to say thats kind of messed up to make you do everything. Witch i finshed the video and seen that the kid did help out. But i do enjoy your videos especially the rain and cold ones like you like. However i did post another comment in a different video a while back i think it would be awesome if you hunted for your food and cooked it at your camp. But its tottaly cool if you are not into that. Maybe a fishing catch and cook if you do any of that.
