Won’t say I’ve always been a huge fan but they were definitely a big part of childhood so to see it end this way is sad but satisfying. Really good story telling but I agree, if they had plans on dragging the story out a bit longer ,their fight would have been an awesome place to reveal which turtle it was. That way during the actual finale we go into it knowing who to cheer on. Small change but impactful

I don't think the last Ronin is the ending to Mirage's original TMNT, it's more of an elseworlds story. The reason I say this is because Casey and April's daughter was Shadow, and she always hung around Mikey and Raph and is even being taught ninjutsu by them. When we last Shadow in the Mirage comics, she's a college student (and the turtles are in their mid to late 30s). Also Baxter died in the Mirage comics, after becoming complete machine, he was shot by Donatello. As for Hiroto, in the original Mirage comic, Kurai had a daughter, not a son, and she died during the city at war arc. This is still an awesome story, I'd love to see an animated movie for it, and I'm looking forward to the sequel coming out this fall! I also hope we get more stories where Eastman and Laired team up together!

@@redred222 Shadow wasn't adopted, Casey was previously married and the woman he was married to was already pregnant before he met her. Later on his wife died during childbirth (that child being Shadow), and sometime after (I think it was like almost a year later) Casey and April got married. So Shadow is their daughter, they just aren't related by blood.

Interesting details, I read very few comics but I've also checked that in the Mirage future, the lone survivor is Donatello And as far as I know, Karai originally isn't part of Shredder's bloodline

@@juancarlosruizosorio2184 Donatello isn't the main survivor in the future, he's just the one Renette travels to meet in the future. The turtles have a falling out and go their separate ways, except Michaelangelo who is presumed dead. It's more of a "they're all dead to me" thing rather then them all actually being dead. Donatello lives by himself at his lab in a cyberpunk Tokyo as an inventor and is blind after Shadow accidentally slashes his eyes in a fight. Raphael's future keeps changing since he traveled to the future with Rennete and is actively trying to change it's out come. Originally in his future he would succumb to his mental illnesses (he was schizophrenic depressed and suicidal in the early issues, as well as in the flashbacks when he was a preteen), he loses his mind and lives as a hermit in the woods in New York state which is a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. Now in his future he is homeless living on the outskirts of a cyberpunk Tokyo mourning Mikey who is presumed dead, and is constantly reading Mikey's books over and over again (Mikey was a novel author in the adult years part of the comic). Leonardo in the future is basically a monk now and is no longer a ninja. He gave up killing after his wife (the superhero "Radical", who is like their version of DC's Raven from Teen Titans) is killed by her arch enemy who they thought they killed back when they all were teenagers. Leonardo hunted him down and killed him for good, but afterwards he made a vow that that would be the last time he killed anyone. He got super religious and spiritual and traveled around Asia to formally train to become a monk. Shadow who had a falling out with the turtles after the accident with Donatello became an assassin for hire. This future has changed some though, because events leading up to this never happened due to Raphael trying to change the future. As for Kurai, yeah, in the Mirage comics she was an orphan adopted by the Shredder, and inherited the Foot Clan after his death as his sole heir.

If you're getting into comics, I could not recommend "Batman: White Knight," more enough. It is such a riveting political drama that doesn't try to spout righteousness at you, it just asks a question. Who is a greater danger to this city: Batman, or the people he fights against? Also, the artwork by Sean Gordon Murphy is stupendous. Easily one of my top 5 artists of the past decade. Easy recommend

The only shame is Michey died - I'm not gonna lie, why I always felt like they will die together or avenging each other in losing battles I kinda hoped one will remain to be the new Splinter for a new generation. I can understand preferring to close chapter of the original TMNT and making new sensei somebody else, but I always kinda liked the samurai movies where the protagonist doesn't go out in a blaze of glory but actually survives to lead a life of honor.

Gotta say that like Mikey makes the most sense, I had this discussion with my friend a while back because we talked about various things like if the four turtles were to all fight each other, who would be the last one standing? The two of us agreed on Leonardo just because he'd know his own team's set of skills real well but I pointed out that Mikey would be a solid runner up being a wild card, he is Battle Nexus Champion after all lol. Unfair comparison given Leo was poisoned during that but if he wasn't & beat Usagi, would of been interesting to see between him & Mikey, who would win. What I pointed out during the conversation with my friend on Mikey making the most sense is that he seems to be super adaptable, it's more obvious in the 2012 series, like when the dude was in Dimension X without his brothers for who knows how long? Instead of struggling to survive or panic or whatever, he adapted & learned, actually this is a thing I love they did with him because it demonstrates how capable he truly is, scary to say at least for that iteration, his brothers somewhat hold him back. He's learned by doing like when he messes with stuff in Donatello's lab, keep on asking about the things & all that, it's just how that turtle do & without his brothers keeping him from doing Mikey things, he was able to do what suits him best & be the most skilled in Dimension X because of it. If this Mikey is anything like that Mikey, he could easily adapt & learn without his brothers but also, makes sense that he ended up torn down emotionally, baby brother does seem to have the most heart so it probably does hurt him the most that they're gone which made it more of a sad read like I don't think I'd be able to be that emotionally invested if it were any other turtle.
